On January 4th, in the fourth quarter of the Army All-American game, Joe Mixon chose to come to OU over Wisconsin and UCLA. No one knew that he would also become one of OU's best recruiters. If you don't believe me, then all you would need to do is take a look at Mixon's twitter feed. Almost immediately after his commitment, Mixon took to twitter and began to openly recruit for OU. Here are just a few examples of some the tweets.
"@TreyL55: Officially 100% decommitted from Texas."OU baby! Lets get it trey— ⚡PRIMETIME!!!⚡ (@Joe_MainMixon) January 8, 2014
"@BigBallin28: A group of us 2015 recruits bout to commit to the same school so we can win that natty 🙌"yessir OU baby!— ⚡PRIMETIME!!!⚡ (@Joe_MainMixon) January 6, 2014
OU recruits we're doing A Great Job Of Recruiting and bringing in people! Keep going Hard! Signing day less than a month! #JustWaitOnit Boom— ⚡PRIMETIME!!!⚡ (@Joe_MainMixon) January 9, 2014
Further look at what Oklahoma offer and Jenks, OK safety Steven Parker had to say on Twitter after a conversation with Mixon:
Good talking with my bro! @Joe_MainMixon that talk is what I needed yo!— Steven Parker (@Lil_Stevie21) January 7, 2014
The reality in recruiting is that elite players want to play with other elite players. A Sugar Bowl win plus the commitment of a player like Mixon cannot be understated. Joe Mixon's impact on the OU football program is already being felt all the way from northern California. With signing day a little less than a month away, there is very little doubt that the efforts of Mixon will pay major dividends for the class of 2014.
