#5 ranked Sooners roll Wyoming 33-9 in wrestling action



OU's wrestlers travelled to Cody, Wyoming to face the Wyoming Cowboys on January 9. The match started at 149 pounds. #4 ranked Kendrick Maple dominated Brandon Richardson en route to a 9-2 victory. Justin DeAngelis followed that up with a 5-3 decision over Andy McCully for the Sooners to take a 6-0 lead. Dakota Friesth romped OU freshman Clark Glass 10-4 to make the score OU 6 Wyoming 3. #1 ranked Andrew Howe then pinned Jace Jensen in the second period for 6 Sooner points. Wyoming Freshman Ben Stroh pinned OU freshman Danny Chaid in the 2nd period to make the score 12-9 Sooners. OU won the next four matches to salt away the dual by an impressive 33-9 score. #3 Travis Rutt dominated Shane Woods 6-0 to bring the score to 15-9 and #14 Ross Larson continued his impressive Freshman year by winning via 3rd period fall over Leland Pfiefer. #5 James Patterson won a narrow 4-2 decision over #8 Tyler Cox to make the score 24-9 Sooners. #8 Cody Brewer picked up a first period fall over Gunnar Woodburn, and Nick Lester finished the dual with a 6-2 decision over Cole Mendenhall.

The Sooners will next be in action on January 25 in Corvallis against the Oregon State Beavers.
