While Jake Heaps former team was shocking the Texas Longhorns he was helping the Kansas Jayhawks do something that hadn't been done since the season opener of 2012...win a football game.
After falling behind to South Dakota in the first quarter, Kansas got on the board for the first time this season with a one-yard plunge by James Sims as the second quarter got under way. Heaps would then throw a 5-yard touchdown pass to former Sooner Justin McCay and the Jayhawks were well on their way to victory.
Kansas would score 24 unanswered points after falling behind 7-0 and then put the game away on an 8-yard run by Brandon Bourbon, in the fourth quarter, to get to the final score of 31-14.
