Oklahoma made quick work of Texas A&M on Saturday leaving no chance of a "if necessary" third game to extend their Super Regional. The Sooners once again jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in their half of the first thanks to the first of two Shelby Pendley home runs.
The Big 12 Player of the Year would strike again in the third with a three run shot to extend Oklahoma's lead to 4-0. In the fourth, OU would start the inning with two quick outs before capitalizing on a walk and hit-by-pitch to load the bases. With two outs, Pendley would come to the plate again only this time the bases were loaded. Whether the Aggies were intentionally pitching around her or not, Pendley drew the bases loaded walk giving her a fifth run batted in and pushing OU's lead to 5-0. Keilani Ricketts would follow with a double down the right field line that would plate two more OU runners. A Brittany Williams single to right would bring home another before Ricketts would be thrown out at home to end the inning. However, at that point OU was up 8-0 and had put the run rule into effect.
Ricketts would make quick work of the Aggies and their remaining six outs in the ball game. Much like Friday night's game, the OU All-American would all just three hits in the game. However, unlike Friday night none of them left the yard. Ricketts finished the game with her seventh strikeout and did not walk a single batter over her five innings of work.
With the win, Oklahoma eliminates Texas A&M from the postseason and advances on to Oklahoma City for the Women's College World Series. The Sooners are slotted to face the winner of the Michigan/Louisiana Lafayette Super Regional. The action in OKC is scheduled to start on Thursday, May 30th.
