Oklahoma Will Face Michigan In OKC Opener

Michigan was pushed to the brink, but eventually won their Super Regional over Louisiana Lafayette. Which means the Wolverines will be Oklahoma's opening game opponent in Oklahoma City.

Right now all we know is that the two teams will play on Thursday. Time and television details have yet to be announced. So be sure to check back and we'll let you know as soon as we find out.

Sooners Advance To WCWS With 8-0 Win

Oklahoma made quick work of Texas A&M on Saturday leaving no chance of a "if necessary" third game to extend their Super Regional. The Sooners once again jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in their half of the first thanks to the first of two Shelby Pendley home runs.

The Big 12 Player of the Year would strike again in the third with a three run shot to extend Oklahoma's lead to 4-0. In the fourth, OU would start the inning with two quick outs before capitalizing on a walk and hit-by-pitch to load the bases. With two outs, Pendley would come to the plate again only this time the bases were loaded. Whether the Aggies were intentionally pitching around her or not, Pendley drew the bases loaded walk giving her a fifth run batted in and pushing OU's lead to 5-0. Keilani Ricketts would follow with a double down the right field line that would plate two more OU runners. A Brittany Williams single to right would bring home another before Ricketts would be thrown out at home to end the inning. However, at that point OU was up 8-0 and had put the run rule into effect.

Ricketts would make quick work of the Aggies and their remaining six outs in the ball game. Much like Friday night's game, the OU All-American would all just three hits in the game. However, unlike Friday night none of them left the yard. Ricketts finished the game with her seventh strikeout and did not walk a single batter over her five innings of work.

With the win, Oklahoma eliminates Texas A&M from the postseason and advances on to Oklahoma City for the Women's College World Series. The Sooners are slotted to face the winner of the Michigan/Louisiana Lafayette Super Regional. The action in OKC is scheduled to start on Thursday, May 30th.

Oklahoma vs. Texas A&M | Game 2 | Open Thread

Our No. 1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners are just one win away from another Women's College World Series appearance. The only thing standing in their way is this Texas A&M team.

Whad'ya saw we go ahead and take care of business?

Yeah, thought so.

Sooners Run Rule Texas A&M

If you just look at the final score of 10-2, it could be somewhat misleading with respect to how this game played out. Oklahoma wound up run ruling Texas A&M, but it was a close game until the very end when the OU offense finally did what it does and things got away from the Aggies.

The Sooners jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead over the first two innings and their ace, Keilani Ricketts, was cruising. Then a cheap home run made it 3-1 followed the next inning by a legitimate home run and all of a sudden it was a one run game. It would stay that way until the sixth when Texas A&M's starter would begin to tire after eclipsing the 100 pitch mark and a seven run explosion would follow.

Oklahoma opened the home half of the sixth inning with a walk, followed by a single, then an infield single to load the bases as National Player of the Year finalist Lauren Chamberlain strolled to the plate. Proving to be the team player she's been all season, Chamberlain would take first of three consecutive walks which would push a one run game to a 6-2 OU lead. OU would plate another before Ricketts would come to the plate with two on and the opportunity to end things an inning early. And end them she did. The senior All-American was a little late on the pitch, but she is so strong she still sent it over the left field wall for a walk off, run rule home run.

Outside of the two solo home runs, which were two of the only three hits she allowed all night, Ricketts was the dominant presence in the circle we've been so accustomed to seeing. She finished the game with thirteen strikeouts to just one walk and made the Aggies look silly all night long with her change-up.

With the win Oklahoma is just one more victory away from another appearance in the Women's College World Series. The two teams will square off again Saturday afternoon at 11:00 a.m. with the game airing once again on ESPN.

OU vs. TAMU Game 1 Rescheduled For Friday

UPDATE: Per @SoonerSoftball, the game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Game one of the Oklahoma/Texas A&M super regional has been rescheduled for Friday at 6:00 p.m. (CST). However, at this point there have been no details released with respect to television coverage. As soon as that is known, we will let you know.

Game One Postponed

The first game in Oklahoma and Texas A&M's best of three series which was supposed to take place Thursday evening has been postponed.

The game was orginally scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and then after heavy rain in Oklahoma on Thursday morning, the start time was pushed back an hour to 7:00 p.m. Evidently that was determined to not be enough and the decision to postpone the game was made around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

There have been no decisions or details announced at the time of this post with respect to what changes will be made to the series schedule. As soon as those details are released, we will be sure to update you
