On Saturday afternoon, Oklahoma's Dillon Overton followed up Jonathan Gray's dominant performance the day before with one of his own. Overton cruised through seven and a third innings, finishing with five strikeouts while allowing just five hits and two runs.
Whereas Gray received very little run support Friday night, the OU bats were were able to put together a couple strong innings to give Overton seven total runs.
The scoring started for the Sooners in the home half of the third when Hunter Haley (hit by pitch) and Max White (walk) got on base ahead of the still white hot Matt Oberste. The OU first baseman came through with an RBI single to bring in the game's first run. Designated hitter Kolbey Carpenter would follow with an RBI single of his own to make it a 2-0 ball game. Hector Lorenzana drove in two more runs with a single back up the middle to cap off a four run inning for the Sooners.
Oklahoma added three more insurance runs in the sixth inning, the first of which came courtesy of a Garrett Carey solo home run followed by a run scoring double and single from Jack Mayfield and Craig Aikin respectively.
With the win Saturday, the Sooners were able to secure the series and will attempt to go for the sweep on Sunday. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CST) and the game will once again be televised on Fox College Sports.
