The Texas Tech Raiders have faced their fair share of concerns at the quarterback position this season. Yet, a lead candidate emerged in the form of a walk-on as Baker Mayfield took to the gridiron against SMU. Throwing 60+ times in a single game in not an anomaly for the Red Raiders. Under the direction of first year head coach, Kliff Kingsbury, the true freshman did just that firmly entrenching himself as a major component to this offense.
After starting seven games, Mayfield's stats speak for themselves. Completing 64% of his passes, this kid threw for 2,315 yards with 12 touchdowns. Just after being crowned the Big 12's Offensive Freshman of the Year, Mayfield shocked the league with wind of a possible transfer. Several media outlets were able to confirm this rumor earlier this month.
Just spoke with Baker Mayfield, who confirms he will transfer after one season at Texas Tech. He will not play in Holiday Bowl vs. ASU.

Now the question shifts to...where will he land?
FYI, had been told that Oklahoma was one of the 7 schools Baker Mayfield initially asked Kingsbury for a release to.

Remember, the Oklahoma quarterback stable is a crowed place with Trevor Knight, Blake Bell, Kendal Thompson, Cody Thomas and incoming freshman, Justice Hansen. To crack the depth chart with this nucleus will prove to be tough but not impossible. While Texas Tech quarterback, Baker Mayfield has his eyes set on the Sooners, the interest may not be mutual.
Can confirm that OU has NOT received permission -- NOR even sought permission -- from Texas Tech to contact QB Baker Mayfield
