I know, I know... there is going to be plenty of backlash for me even suggesting this. Most Sooner fans don't want to be bothered with my silly "sunshine pumping" after watching our program get undressed in Waco. So let me go ahead and eliminate the most obvious of disgruntled comments up front:
"Who cares about another Big 12 championship? We want national titles."
"Who wants to see us get destroyed in the Fiesta again?"
"We won't beat K-State."
"I will never root for Texass or the Pukes."
"Did you watch the Baylor game?"
"We don't stand a chance in Stillwater."
"I want us to lose, so Stoops can blow up the coaching staff."
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, here is how it can happen:
Oklahoma- Obviously we have to win out until Bedlam. It's simple to understand, but it will be much harder to actually do considering how we looked on Thursday and how K-State looked today.
The Pukes- We need them to win out until Bedlam as well. This seems much more feasible than us winning out, and it will most likely happen. At least I believe so. We also need to stay close enough in the BCS rankings to pass them with a win.
Texass- We need them to lose to someone (other than Baylor). Then we need them to beat Baylor, and lose to the Pukes. Losing to the Pukes will likely happen, but beating Baylor is a kind of a stretch.
Baylor- Need Baylor to at least lose to the Pukes and Texass.
What does this all mean? I remember when this group of Seniors came in as Freshmen. They appeared to be destined for great things... which means a national championship in Sooner language. Well... as much as I' d love to see them in Pasadena this year, that isn't going to happen. So I'd much rather see these Seniors go out playing in the Fiesta Bowl opposed to the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (not literally). I know it's a stretch... just my wishful thinking.
