Cowboys Win Ugly Over Kansas State 33-29

An ugly win is still a win and its something that Oklahoma State will gladly take to improve their conference record to 1-1. Kansas State had ample opportunity to upset the Cowboys in Stillwater but they literally gave it away to the tune of five turnovers.

For the second week in a row OSU's offense struggled on the ground and the team was snake bit by special teams. The Cowboys managed just 85 rushing yards against Kansas State with Jeremy Smith and running back JW Walsh making up the bulk of that.

The Wildcats took a 14-10 lead in the second quarter when they blocked a Ben Grogan field goal attempt and Torell Miller returned it 65 yards to paydirt. Then, in the fourth quarter, punter Kip Smith had a punt that went just 21 yards and led to a Kansas State scoring drive.

Oklahoma State would put their best drive of the day together on their very next possession. Walsh was 4/5 passing, for 59 yards, including the game winning touchdown to Charlie Moore.

Texas Tech Destroys Kansas 54-16

Kansas did their best to look every bit the part of the Big Twelve's worst football team on Saturday. The Jayhawks lost three fumbles had and interception and attempted possibly the worst fake punt in college football history. Meanwhile Texas Tech, still looking the part of a contender, racked up 54 points and over 500 yards of offense in the blowout win.

Things started off well for Kansas, who led 10-0 after the first, but then the wheels quickly fell off. Tech scored on every second possession and took a 20-10 lead into the locker room at the half. The onslaught would continue into the third quarter as the Jayhawks were plagued by turnovers and the Red Raiders scored on their first three possessions.

The win may have been costly for Texas Tech though as freshman quarterback Baker Mayfield went down with an apparent leg injury and was helped off the field. Mayfield didn't return to the game. Davis Webb was 3/6 for 36 yards and two touchdowns while filling in for Mayfield.
