Breakdown of KU game

While there were very few positives out of last week’s game, we did make a few small steps toward an offense that’s more designed for Bell’s strengths. There’s still a long way to go, but it’s better than nothing.

So what would an Offense designed for Bell be like? Well, the short passing game has been effective so that’s okay. The zone read needs to go, unless we run a more traditional type which you’ll see in the video below. There needs to be at least 15 designed QB runs a game which are either draw plays or counters, specifically more inside runs.

The deep passing game needs to go, and use much more deep curls (vs zone), comebacks (vs man), posts, and deep crossing/in routes. These are passes Bell can make accurately. Get rid of the corners and streaks. Other than 3rd and long situations, all our passes should be play action passes with receivers running in routes, crosses, and posts behind the LB’s who come up to stop the run.
