Monday morning was the first of several announcements for the college football preseason awards watch lists. Both the Bednarik (best defensive player) and the Maxwell (nation's best player) released their watch lists (see the full lists here) and both included multiple Sooners.
Cornerback Demontre Hurst and safety Tony Jefferson were included on the Bednarik watch list. While quarterback Landry Jones, wide receiver Kenny Stills, and running back Dominique Whaley were all included on the Maxwell watch list.
Both lists were fairly substantial, so while it's not meant as a slight to any of the guys included, it is probably not really all that big of a deal to simply make the watch list (I know, I know, Debbie Downer).
