OU Football Recruiting - Sooners Land Their Second 2013 Verbal Commitment

Even before Katy (TX) defensive end Matt Dimon (VIDEO) recently visited the University of Oklahoma, it seemed as if he was destined to wear the crimson and cream based on how highly he spoke of the Sooners. Ever since that visit, most believed it was just a matter of when not if he would eventually commit to Oklahoma. Dimon ended the suspense Tuesday afternoon announcing via his Twitter account that he had become the second verbal commitment of the Sooners' 2013 class.

Dimon plays both inside and outside on the defensive line for his high school team, but projects as a defensive end at the D-I level. On film, he looks to have a solid initial burst at the snap routinely beating opponents up the field in his pursuit of the quarterback. One of the aspects of his game that immediately stands out is how well he uses his hands to both keep blockers off as well as push them around when he's both defending the run or rushing the passer. It's not all that often you watch high school film and see a kid his age that adept at keep blockers off with mainly just solid technique.

Oklahoma may have found another one of those Texas kids who get overlooked by the larger in-state schools and the Sooners come sweeping in to find an underrated talent. We say that because as of today he is yet to receive a star ranking from Rivals as well as a couple of the other larger recruiting sites. Be that as it may, it's doubtful either Dimon or the OU coaches care much as both seem to be equally as excited with one another. In addition to the Sooners, Dimon held offers from Baylor, Rice, Texas Tech, and Vanderbilt.
