Well...Looks like I was wrong about the OU/Texas game being on Oct 6th
But I know for sure that the Notre Dame game is October 27th because the Irish have already released their complete schedule.
that's what I was saying
OU is probably just wanting to announce/confirm all their non-con games at the same time

I like moving Bedlam
Back to Thanksgiving weekend, but it’s going to be bizarre that it’s not the last game of the season

I don't think Bedlam in Norman will be that bad
But the other two? Yeah, no doubt. Why isn’t OU, who has owned this league, consistently gets screwed by the schedule makers?

CONSPIRACY!!!!!!
Or, maybe it’s more due to the fact that TCU has been plugged into A&M’s slot, and WVU has been plugged into Mizzou’s slot, so that all other returning Big 12 schools can keep the same home/away schedules with everyone else to avoid to games in a row at the same stadium. (This couldn’t be avoided last year going from 12 teams with two divisions to one 10-team league, but it’s easily done this year.) We visited both A&M and Mizziu last year, so we get both TCU and WVU at home. You hosted A&M and Mizzou, so you visit TCU and WVU.
But, of course, “CONSPIRACY!!!!” is so much easier to contemplate.

The one thing being a lot older has going for it, most of us older have seen more CFB than most younger people have seen web pages.
it's the Missouri and A&M slots
plus for the newcomers they want OU and UT split so for their home schedules they get one of us each year.
I get that
I just hoped that Joe C. could work some magic since we got screwed so bad last year.

Question
would you rather play both tcu and west virginia next year in Norman when OU has NEW quarterback, or play them on the road this year with Landry Jones as the quarterback?
Team FIRST, Effort SECOND, Talent THIRD, Selfish NEVER
that's cause u don't trust landry
he has the experience and hopefully he’ll have an epiphany
Team FIRST, Effort SECOND, Talent THIRD, Selfish NEVER
He's played better on the road since 2009
Last year he was good on the road except against OSU.
by ClarkusKentus on Feb 14, 2012 3:37 PM CST up reply actions
I think the team as a whole plays poorly on the road, not just landry.
I think I would rather see a more conservative offense on the road in WVU.
The road at TCU frAnkly does not scare me.
TCU is overrated
they are still carrying their reputation from the Rose Bowl season.
WVU is weaker. They are losing some of their better defenders and a lot of experience on the o-line.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooo, crappy weather! Was hoping that one would have been earlier in the season to avoid something like that.

Is having our two byes as early in the season as they appear to be. That could be a BIG factor late in the season.

There's good and bad.
Don’t like playing in Lubbock the week before RRR. Do like playing WVU later in the year. I didn’t want to be their first Big XII game in their house. Let them get beat on a bit by the rest of the conference before we go up there. The last four games are tough at first glance. But Baylor won’t be as good as last year and neither will OSU. TCU to end the season is tough, but fun. It may be for all the Big XII marbles. Don’t like ND in the middle of the conf schedule.
Let’s face it boys, this is a very tough conference and there are no easy paths.
My ranking from toughest to easiest
1. @ WVU
2. vs. Texas
3. @ TCU
4. vs. KSU
5. @ Tech
6. @ ISU
7. vs. OSU
8. vs. Baylor
9. vs. KU

I would flip
Texas and @TCU and then flip @Tech and Kstate, as road games are so hard in the Big 12.
I'd go with..
1. @ WVU
2. @ TCU
3. @ Tech
4. vs. Texas
5. vs. KSU
6. vs. OSU
7. @ ISU
8. vs. Baylor
9 vs. KU
My ratings exactly...
Gotta remember that we have not wonin Lubbock in the last 3 trips there…and even though they’re beatable…they were 29 point underdogs last yr when they broke our streak.
@ Sean Post - I could see that
I’d still have to put Texas above Tech though. I get that it’s Lubbock, but I think Texas is going to be a much better team than Tech and so that negates the Lubbock factor IMO.
Also, I think Iowa State could be dangerous this year. I’d definitely have that ahead of Bedlam. I really think OSU is going to take a major step back and that game being in Norman gives me little concern (assuming health on our part).
I was also thinking of putting KU ahead of Baylor. I think they’ll scare some people w/ Weis calling plays and Baylor lost everything (on offense at least).

$250 tickets each in the south end of the west side.

Now that I see the overall schedule
I like seeing a team/program that I think can beat us or at least play with us every year in West Virginia. To be respected as a conference, we need more strength at the top. Missouri and A&M were in the middle of the pack at best (well, Missouri had a couple of good years) and Colorado sucked.
TCU I’m afraid will fall back to the middle of the pack, as they really are Baylor-Max
OU's home games (or in Norman anyway)
K-State
OSU
Baylor
KU
Notre Dame
Likely D-II school
As someone who doesn’t get to most home games, I’m curious to know from someone who does if that is a home schedule that excites you?

so I’m not your target audience for the question, but it does concern me that OU doesn’t have many exciting in conference foes, and our most exciting game this year is Notre Dame, which isn’t going to be coming to Norman regularly. Texas is of course our biggest, but it’s in Dallas.
Is OSU one year and West Virginia the other year that exciting?

Huh?
Baylor with out Griffin, OSU without Weedon and Blackmon I don’t think so.
I’ll give you K-state, heck I could be talked into OSU as a rivalry-anything-can-happen, Notre Dame, will be a top 20 team (and over-rated as usual) but OU should be favored in all the games, and i have a hard time seeing OU lose to any of them
(said the same thing about Texas Tech last year too……sooooooo)
If the D doesn't improve a great bit, yes Baylor will have enough to be dangerous.
OSU will be down from last year, but still not an easy out.
I guess I have Baylor dropping off more
as I thought they were a one man show.
BUT…if OU’s defense doesn’t improve from last year, yeah, we could loose to several teams. While, I’m not expecting us to be shut down defense, I do expect our secondary to be a lot more tighter than last year.
Yeah I don't see Baylor as being very dangerous next year
They have improved as a program for sure. But without Griffin next year they are going to be starting over in a lot of ways. He still represents about 80-90% of their offense.

13-0
But seriously looking at our schedule so far, OU should be favored in every game we play besides AT West Virginia.
They return a lot of players from last year

by Doc Knoss on Feb 14, 2012 11:59 AM CST via mobile reply actions
IMO
The scheme in term of 4-2-5 could very well stay the same, Mike was the one who first implemented that here. What I’m excited about is the idea that Mike’s scheme, in terms of responsibilities, is supposed to be much more simplified. It’s designed to let your athletes make plays while I believe BV’s was designed for them to read and then react (taking away some of their agressiveness and causing confusion/big play busts).

But I remain convinced they’re moving Jefferson back to that traditional safety spot. So unless they move Colvin to corner, which I think they should but don’t believe they will, then he and T-Jeff are your two starting safeties.
I actually think Javon wouldn’t be terrible in that nickel back spot. He’s best against the run and I think he can stay w/ TEs.

@THEREALALLENOU on twitter - "The man, the verb, the legend" OU'd
Well Ibby can be effective against teams like Iowa
but the spread offenses and passing games in the Big 12 are another animal. I think he might be a liability against some of those teams in coverage. I would love to see Harris in that nickel spot too. He’s a physical player and that position will allow him to be a bit more reckless.

Ibby gets exposed against Big 12 spread teams (see Baylor game among other examples). I just don’t think he’s a good fit there, or for at least how BV used that position.

OU at least has a road game they can do this year
but, not many want to take on a beat down from OU, and many don’t want to do that return game to OU in 2014
I fully expect us to play UTEP in the Sun Bowl and a FCS school in Norman (and pay dearly for that game too)
Noncon
What happened to talks with UCF and Rutgers
Not sure

UCF is still and option
but the hang up is OU would like a return game in 2014 from whoever they schedule for the road this year, and both schools don’t know what their Big East schedule will look like then
I also think
Once tv gets involved, one or two of these dates could get switched around. I’d think OU could get Baylor on board w/ moving that game up so both teams could have a bye later in the season.

Think about this one for a second:
—The first beer served in a Big 12 game since Colorado was a member will be Sept. 29 when Baylor visits for West Virginia’s conference opener. We’ll let that issue breath a bit as you consider alcohol-serving state school vs. Baptist flagship.
That's the price you pay...
For playing with the pagans! Just kidding!
If BYU joins this conference
BYU will be calling Baylor heathens, cause that Dr. Pepper has CAFFEINE!!!
One down, one to go?
This guy says OU will be playing Florida A&M

So there would be your FCS opponent
And if you assume UTEP is happening, then the 2012 schedule would be complete

dang...I was just about to post this
Not sure if he knows anything, but it makes sense as it’s an FCS school
Trav Henry
is confirming that he talked to this guy, and thinks it’s solid. Henry heard FAMU this morning. Apparently we out bid Florida State for this game!
Feb. 8th. Florida A&M. in Norman.
OU has one more game to go.
Sept.

Well, the halftime show should be good. They've got a good band.
Gotta have a beatdown game or two on the schedule.
OU vs. texass is on my birthday.
Now I’ve got to try to get tickets again. It would make an awesome birthday present to get to go back to that game and watch beevo get beatdown agan.

So we'll both be doing some serious celebrating
as long as OU wins. Mine is the next day. Ahhh, one of my favorite days happened when my bday fell on RRS Saturday. Memories.
