While the 2012 Big XII football schedule has yet to be released sources have indicated that the annual Red River Rivalry will remain during the first weekend of October. The annual grudge match typically occurs on the fist or second weekend of October and has been slated for Saturday October 6th this year..

Since Bob Stoops took the helm in 1999 the teams have played on the first Saturday in October 5 times. If you're looking for a trend the Sooners are 4-1 when playing the Longhorns that weekend under Stoops. Oklahoma beat Texas 28-20 on October 2, 2010 which was the last time the two schools played on the first Saturday of the month.

The addition of TCU to the Big XII Conference leave Oklahoma searching for other out of conference opponents as the Sooners were supposed to open up the 2012 season in Ft. Worth. With that game being a conference game now it most likely will be slid back on the schedule but nothing is a given yet.

The lone non-conference game on Oklahoma's schedule right now is Notre Dame which comes to Norman on October 27th
