Oklahoma lost one of their top 2013 verbal commitments Sunday night to the NFL Draft. No really, to the NFL Draft.

It's not very often you lose a recruit to the NFL Draft, yet that appears to be the position the Sooners find themselves in following the tweets above from 2013 commitment, Courtney Gardner.
Gardner was initially supposed to be a member of the 2012 class, but failed to qualify academically. As a result, he was forced to stay in junior college and continue to take classes in an effort to get into Oklahoma. It would appear that is no longer a possibility as he's made a decision to enter the NFL Draft.
From an outsider's perspective, it certainly appears as if the grade side of things wasn't going to work out in his favor so this was the most appealing alternate route for him.
While wide receiver isn't a position of need in this 2013 class, losing one of your highest rated recruits is never a good thing. Admittedly, these are not your typical circumstances but it's a lost commitment regardless.
