As first reported by SoonerScoop.com, Oklahoma true freshman tight end Taylor McNamara will miss the remainder of the season following a surgical procedure on his shoulder. Bob Stoops was quoted as saying McNamara will receive a medical redshirt, which is likely an assumption as those have to be applied for but no reason at this point to doubt it's rewarded.
Certainly not a huge loss from a production standpoint as the tight end is virtually non-existent in the Josh Heupel offense and McNamara's playing time prior to the injury was limited at best. Still, disappointing for the true freshman to get hurt and have to sit out the rest of the year.
Now if Stoops could just find some more "injuries" for some of the other freshman whose redshirts they've needlessly burned thus wasting an entire year of eligibility.
