I think we would be fine if we played in the MEAC. The only problem is that we play in the Big 12 where they play big boy basketball. We can’t play with the big boys.

in losing @ Mizzou, vs. KU, then @ GIA…..not an easy schedule. We probably should’ve won tonight, but an avg team like we got will lose some of these games that we would normally chalk up as a win.

I didn't see this game (as it wasn't on ESPN3)
but the Missouri and KU loses weren’t because of Kruger, lack of coaching, or lack of hustle.
Missouri: They just shot lights out on their own floor. The team we put out there, didn’t matter. We could have been Duke.
KU: We were up at half. When they figured out their bigs were much better then ours in the 2nd half and were up by 18 we could have quit. But we didn’t. In fact we actually hustled hard and brought the game to only an 11 point loss. This is a HUGE improvement over last year. Last year we would have lost by 30.
OSU: Hey, again, I have no idea. This is a game we should have won.
This team was picked to finish 9th out of 10 in the Big 12 before the season. We are already ahead of where many thought we would be. No we are not a top 16 team. BUT…we should make the NIT unless we really fall apart.
Kruger is the best coach OU basketball has had since Billy Tubbs, in my opinion.

Believe me, I am not a Capel apologist. I was never convinced he was what we needed, either.
I agree with your statement that Jeff Capel would not have added anything to this game. Shooting comes and goes, I understand that (although we don’t seem to be very successful at getting looks for Pledger). What I watch is how well a team does at the things that don’t take talent. Things like getting on the floor for loose balls. Things like getting back on defense after you score. Things like playing hard for 40 minutes. I’m not so sure we’ve made all that much improvement yet in those areas. Redhawk thinks we have. Maybe he’s right. Maybe not.
Here’s what disappoints me. We played a not very good OSU team (i.e., a winnable game) on their floor in a half empty GIA on national television and that was the best effort we could muster?
Last year we won 5 conference games. When we win our 6th game this year, that will be an improvement over last year. Short of that, I just don’t see how things have changed that much.
