Bob Stoops really has me scratching my head on this one. Who cares about his reputation for not firing any assistant coaches??? Not me! Everyone know Stoops wants Mike back, and Martinez out… Encouraging Martinez to “pursue other coaching opportunities” is the same as firing him, so enough with the silly technicalities. We have lost one recruit. Make the announcement and get this fiasco over with already.

We all knew martinez was the one getting fired but I thought it would have been a few more weeks until an announcement about him leaving would happen. Say what you want about stoops but the loyalty and respect he shows his assistant coaches is second to none, he knew what he needed to do about his team and did it in a discrete way so all parties involved, which arent US the fans, were able to move on properly. Now if he could just convince Landry that he is too good for college football now and it would be in his not our best interest to leave and join the NFL. That could be asking for too much though lol
