Five star OT Zach Banner announcing college decision Monday afternoon
[UPDATE] - Zach Banner has chosen to attend the University of Southern California.
One of OU's "biggest" undecided recruiting targets, 6'9" 310 pound Zach Banner out of Lakewood (WA), will be announcing his college destination Monday afternoon around 4:15 pm (central).
Banner is the son of former NFL All-Pro tackle Lincoln Kennedy and is the #2 offensive tackle prospect in the 2012 class and a Top 20 overall player.
Banner is choosing between a top three of Oklahoma, USC, and his father's alma mater Washington. He is expected to declare for the USC Trojans, but there are a few around the Oklahoma program holding out hope. He really hit it off with several of the OU commits during their time in San Antonio of the Army All-American game, but pulling him away from the west coast was always going to be pretty difficult.
Be sure to stay close to the site this afternoon as we'll be following the announcement and get you the decision as soon as it's available.

Won't his announcement be 4:30 CST / 2:30 PST?
Rumor has it that Texas is about to sign a huge corporate sponsorship deal for the Longhorn Network. They just have to decide which brand represents them best: Dyson, Eureka or Hoover.
Yes
I need to update the post. Thanks for the reminder!

Yup. Figures.

My hopes were never up for this one...
nor were they ever up for DGB either. If you look back at a picture posted to this site in preseason of him talking with Coach Heupel, he looked overly unenthusiastic. I knew right then and there he was not headed to Norman.

Doesn't really sound overly unenthusiastic to me
Oklahoma is a great place and maybe my favorite visit. I wish them luck.
I get that after not picking OU it’s really just lip service to a certain extent, but I wouldn’t discount the work Coach Kittle put in. Especially when you factor in all the other recruits he’s landed. Getting Banner to leave the west coast was always a bit of a leap. The fact that we were in it this long is a testament to the job our coaches did and I think Banner’s quote reflects that IMO.

That, along with the "Family Over Everything" theme of his announcement
told me he was probably going to take the ‘easy’ route with USC instead of moving halfway across the country. The Huskie backers were trying to push the Daddy’s school family route, but I just didn’t see that happening either.
