I did

And I’m curious if you felt as uncomfortable watching it as I did?

I don’t think OU fans would do something like that for good and bad reasons. Good = we’re not so unaccustomed to getting elite recruits. Bad = we’re kind of an apathetic/spoiled fan base that wouldn’t go gather outside somewhere to celebrate a recruit.

I very much like the fact that wouldn’t happen at OU, whether it’s for the good or bad reason.

I also think

Based on a lot of what DGB and his family have said, that crowd made them more uncomfortable than it impressed them.

The whole things looks staged

why and how would that give a kid the feel of the campus and campus life on a day to day basis?

by OnlyOneOU on Jan 29, 2012 9:55 PM CST up reply actions

staged? no one organized any of that

it was just a bunch of college kids with nothing better to do.

by rg643 on Jan 29, 2012 10:03 PM CST up reply actions

Ok - I'm just stating the way it looked

I still don’t get how it looks good to a recruit? Let’s put ourselves in DGB’s shoes…sure it may be a nice warming party but when it is all said and done, what did it do in terms of recruiting him? Will he remember it on signing day or will it go by the wayside?

Me personally, if I were being recruited it would be only about football. He will play on the next level and needs to go where he can excel and develop on the field, in order to be ready for the NFL all while staying eligible which we here at OU are all too familiar with fan favorites not being eligible. So yes the classroom atmosphere is something I’d consider.

by OnlyOneOU on Jan 29, 2012 10:07 PM CST up reply actions

Maybe not but it is known that DGB's family will weigh in before his decision

Ultimately the decision is his yes, but we saw the disappointment when a recruit chose Bama over LSU. If his is close to his family at all, which I assume he is, MU might have made a boo boo.

by OnlyOneOU on Jan 29, 2012 10:12 PM CST up reply actions

we've been recruiting him for 5 years

if he changes his mind because a bunch of college students got excited and waited for him to show up then….well, he wasn’t really firm on his decision anyway

by rg643 on Jan 29, 2012 10:22 PM CST up reply actions

Porbably

But you have to hate that all indicators point to Arky

by OnlyOneOU on Jan 29, 2012 10:23 PM CST up reply actions

Well

this fantasy world you live in must be nice
staged? no one organized any of that

Well as a group they looked dumb.

Whoever recorded that & posted it for the world to see did mizzou no favors.

by OU JJ on Jan 29, 2012 10:18 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

why is that?

whose opinion besides dgb’s matters?

by rg643 on Jan 29, 2012 10:26 PM CST up reply actions

Since its all over the Internet & YouTube

Recruits & families of potential recruits will see it. Hards$$ sec recruiters will see it. Lame-o.

the basic problem with Kish

is that it smacks of NO CHANGE – it’s unrealistic that stoops will hire someone he doesn’t KNOW

by pcasooner on Jan 29, 2012 8:42 PM CST via mobile reply actions

hard to say

As bad as I thought it was, sometimes kid eat that attention up. I’d say about the same, I still think it’s Arkansas. But man am I just ready for it to be over.

davonte neal/ zach banner

Any good or bad news on those guys? Also wondering if there are some db’s that may be committing soon?

by pcasooner on Jan 29, 2012 8:50 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

latest

Neal isn’t deciding until after signing day and has plans to take one more visit the week after NSD. Maybe it’s to OU or maybe it’s to Arizona where it’s currently scheduled. Kind of have a feeling Kish gets him to campus and after that it’s a toss up.

Banner is announcing tomorrow and I’d be pretty surprised if it isn’t USC. Hope I’m wrong, I know he has a good connection w/ several OU commits, but I think pulling him from the left coast is gonna be tough.

LOL

you don’t miss the bubble screens over and over?

by OnlyOneOU on Jan 29, 2012 8:48 PM CST up reply actions

I dont miss the lame-o run run run up to the line. PAUSE

then run right up the butt of the right guard for 2 yards.

by OU JJ on Jan 29, 2012 8:49 PM CST up reply actions

Chris Brown always made something out of those plays

we simply weren’t getting those type of recruits anymore

by OnlyOneOU on Jan 29, 2012 9:01 PM CST up reply actions

same with Murray.

But the point is if you are gonna run a simple run play, then run it, dont get all fricking cute & run the clock down to 1 second & then gain 2 yards.

by OU JJ on Jan 29, 2012 9:04 PM CST up reply actions

Ugh

BCS Nat’l championship flashbacks. It’s even worse when you do it multiple times near the goal line.

by ClarkusKentus on Jan 30, 2012 9:30 AM CST up reply actions

oh I agree.

I just get tired of people saying “these cali recruits” in a negative light, like they are the problem.

by OU JJ on Jan 29, 2012 8:49 PM CST up reply actions

they are definitely taking a noticeable

more “national” approach to recruiting. it’s been evident these last couple years and their 2013 offers already indicate the same.

how do you know that martinez

is gone because he was the last one in, first one out to make room for Mike? just because he’s not “in the family” doesn’t mean that stoops doesn’t know him.

I'm sure Stoops knew him

He’s been in the business a long time and there are tons of coaches he knows but the “Stoops Mold” generally consists of a specific coaching tree or working together on a previous staff

Bottom line: this team is exceeding expectations.

And now they HAVE WON a close one!

Krueger is coaching as well as anyone in the nation. Compare to last year. Cade would have really contributed to this team.
