Recruiting news
Ok.ok.ok...jte I know that DGB doesn't talk about it, so I'm not gonna even ask your opinion on him...although scouts.com or rivals is saying something about it...more like their predictions of where he'll go...but what about Banner and Stefon Diggs and the other recruits? Do we know if we r behind USC for banner or in the lead, etc? With all the news about Mike Stoops, will there be ny new recruits headed our way?

Diggs was always gonna be a longshot
We might have had a chance if we could have got him on campus that week he and DGB were talking about coming, but I really don’t see it happening now.
Banner has publicly said that he had a final two of OU and U$C. He’s going to take his last official visit there next weekend I believe and you can expect slimeball Kiffin to pull out all the stops. It’s going to be tough to pull him from the left coast, but he has developed legit relationships with several other members of OU ‘s class and all the talk last week was how much he hung out w/ the OU guys in San Antonio. He loves Bruce Kittle and he’s very aware we’d have a spot open at LT next year. I still think U$C is gonna be tough to beat and if you made me give you an answer I’d say that’s where he ends up, but most people wouldn’t have said OU would still be in it now so that’s got to count for something.
What do u think about Avery Young if banner picks USC? I know Bama wants him but they’re already over recruited and likely won’t have space in their class. Also, u got any info on Brandon Beaver? Upgrade or downgrade from De’Vante Harris?
Bama? Over-recruited?
Surely you jest. Coach Satan Saban wouldn’t allow that, would he?
Rumor has it that Texas is about to sign a huge corporate sponsorship deal for the Longhorn Network. They just have to decide which brand represents them best: Dyson, Eureka or Hoover.

Yeah really
Bama has averaged something like 29 new recruits each year over the last five years.

Young isn't likely at this point
Never made it to campus, no visit scheduled at this point. I’d guess Young winds up at Florida or Auburn. If we miss on Banner, we might get this JUCO tackle we’re in on right now but that’s really our only other legit target at tackle right now.

Oops, sorry forgot about Beaver (too easy, don't go there people)
I don’t think losing Harris really hurts us w/ Beaver. In fact it might have helped us. He said that he sees his friend Harris’ decommitment as an opportunity for him now, which is obviously the intelligent way to look at things. Besides, Beaver is tight with McNamara and Woods as well so it’s not like b/c Harris left he doesn’t know anybody coming to OU.

We definently
need some defensive commits with only a couple in this class.
I swear my allegiance to the crimson and cream, and lay down my effort to honor this team. The bell always awnsered, Ill fight through the pain and lift up my brother! To honor this game! I stand in the shadows of champions past and guard every inch of this hallowed grass. I train to remember although i may bleed. We live by the code, of the crimson and cream. Theres only one Oklahoma.
I think Harris' upside was higher
But Beaver could still be a very good player.

I would say Harris was a little bit better IMO

The thing about kids is...
There are a few in every class that were a 3-4 star that steps up and a few 5 star that never live up to their hype.
Josh Hamilton: "I just show up, look at the lineup and play where I’m told. If they want me to catch, I’ll catch."
Jon Daniels on relationship with #Rangers Young: "I’d love to walk in and hug everybody every day, but that’s not critical to us winning." 2/19/11
Yeah
I’ll take 3 stars like Sam Bradford over blue chippers like Chris Simms and Garrett Gilbert.

I just read on BON
That we are out of the DGB race and it’s down to texass and ark. Is this true?
No, it is not
This is a rumor that has been perpetuated by Texas websites and furthered by a totally non-credible Arkansas site that Texas sites are now using to further their own rumor.
both types are really good at making stuff up to suit their desires
The one thing being a lot older has going for it, most of us older have seen more CFB than most younger people have seen web pages.
Anything you hear on DGB
is pretty muc pure speculaton. Nobody really knows anything.

Bobby Burton from 24/7 Sports
pretty much echoed the same sentiment, but he sounded like his opinion was DGB going to the pigs.

My guess too
No one really knows anything, but my instincts are on him going to the school close to home
If you made me put money on it
I’d bet Arkansas, but you’d probably have to put a gun to my head (in a non-literal sense of course). But honestly, I’m just soooooooooooo ready for it to be over. The guy is an incredible talent and I think he’s handled this with nothing but class, but all the fans talking about what he’s going to do, or what they’ve heard he’s going to do, or blah blah blah has just totally wore me out.
Yeah, he has handled it very well.
He must be well grounded and obviously has good people around him. Now Gunner Kiel on the other hand….

After this season
I wouldn’t doubt it. Arkansas definitely looks to be on the upward trend and OU would appear to be mired in mediocrity.
That being said, as a WR, I’d be excited to go somewhere that I could be “the guy” from day one. Face it, he comes here and there isn’t a WR on the roster that could hold his jock.
Indeed the immediate future is much brighter for the cousin lovers in Fayettenam.
But let’s not forget, those guys have never even won their conference. With OU you have to believe there is a greater chance of winning the conference and playing for a NC more often in the next three years than AR could ever hope for.
That may not even be in DGB’s top five as far as priorities go. He plays everything so close to the vest, who knows?

hmmm
Arkansas squeaked by A&M, Vandy, and Ole Miss last season. Not super confident that they’ll contend for a division title next year.

OU squeaked by A&M, Mizzou and FSU
Granted, FSU and Mizzou are better than Vandy and Ole Miss, but the future isn’t much brighter, on the surface, in Norman. Are you super confident that OU will contend? I’m not. They might, by default, but still have to go through OSU, KSU, WVU and TCU. The slate is tough next year and this roster doesn’t inspire a whole lot of confidence.
They squeaked by
as in barely scored more points than Vandy, Ole Miss, and A&M. None of our wins were nearly as close.

C'mon now
I know this season was rough given what all of our expectations we’re, but if you are a recruit looking at the possibility of winning a national title, who has the better shot traditionally speaking? Sure we underachieved this year but we aren’t exactly looking at .500 at best next year. We can still offer this kid alot, and hopefully he’s not as jaded as most of us became by the end of the year.

Fair enough
but, would you want to come in to a passing offense that suddenly cannot get into the end zone? Would you want to play with a QB that has a penchant for hanging guys out over the middle with his consistently high throws? As a WR, I think I’d choose Arkansas simply for the QB situation. Sure, both have growing to do next year, but I’d rather play with Wilson than #12.
If the kids a competitor the first part shouldn't matter
He should feel like he’s gonna be the playmaker to get into the endzone, On the second point Landry is better than Wilson in most people’s eyes, maybe not everybody but most (I’m on the fence on this). As a WR you are gonna get plenty of opportunities at both schools, but which school year in and year out contends for titles? Arky has to go through bama and lsu every year and how often do they pass both of those tests?

I know
I’m just saying that OU isn’t exactly “sittin pretty” for the next little while and maybe he thinks that Arkansas is the place to make his mark…on a truly national stage. Remember, playing LSU and Bama is a national headline…not many games in the B12 are gonna have that hype next season.
at every D1 school
DBG would be “the guy” at every D1 school except 3 or 4. And most likely, he would be “the guy” in about half of the NFL teams. An Adrian Peterson type of player = man amoung boys = ready for the NFL now.

Score doesn't do us justice
We killed them. They just got two crap TDs and a 2 pt after the game was put away

it was a close game at the half, but so was the OU-KSU game.

Dave Ubben on DGB
On ESPN’s Big 12 blog yesterday:
Steve (Austin, TX): What do you think the chances are that Texas is able to steal DGB away from Arkansas?
David Ubben: I will say this and only this, re: DGB: I will be shocked if he goes to Texas.
This is the widely regarded consensus
Of nearly everyone outside of those of burnt orange persuasion
DGB wont go to Texas
Scouts and recruiting analysts are adamant that he wants to stay close to home. Tuscaloosa and Austin are not close and the Longhorns lack the consistency at qb. That leaves OU, Mizzou, and Arkansas. OU has a stellar wr class entering this year which nearly eliminates them. Out of the final two schools, Arkansas has the advantage at qb. Fayetteville is also very appealing to college students in general. Arkansas will most likely be the winner of the DGB sweepstakes.

any updates?
I was wondering if there were any recruiting updates from the weekend?
Not a lot
Just posted an update on DGB on the front page.
Of the guys who were in this weekend, only Damien Williams (the JUCO RB) has spoken about his visit. He was very positive and the consensus is that OU could be his pick.
The TE, Sean Price, hasn’t done any interviews so we don’t know how he felt it went.
DB Gary Simon is on campus thru today and hopefully we’ll hear something from him later in the week.
This coming weekend is going to be a big one for visits and we’ll have a post up on it later in the week once we feel comfortable with confirmations. Things tend to change pretty easily during the week, so we prefer to wait so we can give you the most accurate information.
