Mizzou WR Jerrell Jackson fails to grasp "bulletin board material" concept
Missouri wide receiver Jerrell Jackson evidently is looking to get the attention of the #1 team in the country.
Asked by the St. Louis Post Dispatch what made Oklahoma so tough at home, Jackson had this to say:
"I don't know what makes them so tough," he said. "Ain't nothing tough about them to me."
I mean really man? Look, nobody forgets (least of all these OU players or coaches) that you got the best of them last year or that you had a good game but how dumb are you? Doubtful that OU needed much to "get up" for this game given what transpired last year, but let's go ahead and thank Mr. Jackson for providing the unnecessary ammunition none the less. Oh, and in case you're wondering whether or not the Sooners picked up on his little comment:

samich time!

He was back on the freaking field by the end of the game. Severe head trauma = overnight at the hospital for one night, at a minimum.
And I don’t ever, ever want to hear Texass fans calling another school’s fans “not classy.” You noble folks cheered when Bradford went down in the Cotton Bowl. So don’t come over here on your high horse and act like Texass fans have class and are reasonable. You are the most hated school in the Big 12 for a reason. Your fans SUCK.

Please.
This isn’t a Texas v OU thing, although I’m glad you went there, it just shows your ignorance.
I would call out any individuals for saying crap like what was said above. And it’s hilarious that you bring up the Bradford injury because I was in the crowd and there were plenty of people telling those fans to shut up. Just like there were OU fans telling other OU fans to shut up when they were chanting “boomer sooner” during the bedlam game last year (an OSU player got hurt). Those fans are everywhere.
Who’s on the high horse here?
The problem is you came over here to an OU board telling OU fans to act classy — you painted an awfully broad stroke. No doubt all schools have some loonies, but for Texass, of all schools, to tell another school to be classy is absurd.
Want to know what truly classy fans look like? It’s Nebraska and BYU. And Nebraska got so tired of dealing with your s*** that they left.
Yeah, I think you’ve been owned. Go away.

And how does going to OU show ignorance? Hell, at least I went to the University I love so much. Texass has more Wal-Mart and T-shirt fans than any school in the country.
It is comments like this that make so many fans from other teams (you should see how many fans and alums of Pac-12 schools have posted here saying they absolutely are amazed at the arrogance on BON) absolutely hate Texass.
by SoonerSunDevil on Sep 20, 2011 5:23 PM CDT up reply actions
I'll reply to both here.
First, I pointed out your ignorance in making a broad assumption that I wouldn’t say the same things to my own fans. Also, I never told anybody to “act classy”. I merely pointed out sarcastically that it was a “really classy” thing for somebody to say – and that goes for anybody.
NEBRASKA!?? You MUST be kidding me. I’ve seen Nebraska fans live and heard of their infamous bottle throwing incidents. You HAVE to be kidding.
Who said ANYTHING about you going to OU or anything? Again, more assumptions.
And I’ve been to many boards. Remove the plank from thine own eye first.
BUT, let me ask this, because you never responded to it. DO YOU think it’s a classy thing for somebody to say? Take your bias off. Just answer the question, and I will be happy to go away. But I have a feeling you won’t.
I bet you’d get a 6 on the Wonderlic, too.

By the way
I came over to this board right now because I heard the twitter battle and the incredibly stupid things the MIZZOU WR said about OU’s home winning streak. I knew there would be hilarious reactions from the fan base (as it was a stupid thing to say) and I wanted to see what they were. And that comment about the WR who was unconscious on the way out of a jump with rigid arms (hence brain trauma) was the FIRST thing I saw.
Dude was alright
Not paralyzed , not blinded, not career threatening. He just got knocked out on a hard hit from Oklahoma’s defense. Get over it! Had any of those things been the case then it would have been off limits. As it stands its just another hard it.
Glad we could tell you all you wanted to know
Guess you were ticked off at Goodwin for his crack back block against the UCLA defender the other day.
All of that is done for precaution. Again, the kid was fine but you were clearly traumatized by it. Football is a violent sport. Perhaps you should start watching synchronized swimming or something.
Actually.
I was very mad at Goodwin’s crack back as it cost us positive yards. All Goodwin had to do was engage the reciever, not lower the shoulder pad/helmet area. Like I’ve said up there, I bear no bias when it comes to hits like this.
Whether people appreciate that I commented on it or not, I can understand that.
I understand football, as I played four years for Midwest City. But I’ve seen people carted off for the same reasons, and it’s just an unneccessary part of the game. But making a comment about it like you did was even worse, I think.
I applaud the medical staff's
reaction to the event. The fact that he was on the sideline in the 4th quarter with no brace, coherent and interacting, indicates that the medical staff correctly overreacted to the initial incident.
40A, I believe there is some merit to what you are stating as it is a sensitive topic, but I also feel there is a good bit of overreaction. That would be especially true if he plays against Clemson.
seriously…..when was the last time you went to Ames? ever?
by PA Sooner 95 on Sep 20, 2011 6:19 PM CDT up reply actions
Thank you.
Really. If you think I’m overreacting, I can understand that. But to be honest that was the first thing I saw and yes it did bother me.
I realize football is a violent sport, as I played for Midwest City from 06-10 but I don’t think it’s unreasonable for an overreaction that I made.
I think you are also well aware
of the desensitizing one gets after hearing 3 days of whining from the losing team’s fans, or just having an aggie in the conference… Callousness happens.
seriously…..when was the last time you went to Ames? ever?
by PA Sooner 95 on Sep 20, 2011 6:27 PM CDT up reply actions
I can definitely understand the callousness.
I guess I just don’t expect it as the first comment, also not from a site editor. Really, not at all to be honest.
Well, just so you know, after reflecting for a second when I first read it,
I had no problem with it, but that is because I thought along CC’s explanation, that the medical staff was being cautious, and that he returned and showed no ill effects. If he had not, there is no way CC writes that. Unfortunately, we just cannot intimate his thoughts in a simple post.
It is also just comical that this Mizzou WR mouths off like that. I guess he had not seen the game tapes yet, cause OU/FSU was one rough game.
seriously…..when was the last time you went to Ames? ever?

OMG
Why does this a$$clown keep coming back here? Are things so boring over at BON that you have to come here and lecture people about class?

Well
as always, I’m up for a lively discussion (or perhaps debate) about college football. I visit many blogs. None are more unwelcoming as you, and that includes aggy.
I already stated why I was at this particular post. And, again, not lecturing anybody about class.
That's exactly what you did.....
and lectures on class coming from a whorn fan are rich. Very funny.

I was sitting on the UT side for that game (the only tickets I could get) and the roar from Sam not getting up was pathetic. I heard laughter, chants of “stay down you puss”, and other horrible things. No other fans can stoop to that level, especially Sooner fans.

It made McCoy going down against Alabama pure poetic justice. Karma is a bitch, Texass fans.

Jackson
I was following this exchange on twitter and it made me grin. Are you kidding me? lol. I was worried about an emotional letdown after the pressure cooker in the Doak, combined with a possible complacency with Mizzou having lost one and the 37 game win streak at home. Mizzou is still a good team. Then Jackson gives dis’es OU’s defense and fires them up. Cool. Keep talkin’ J.J. Say something about Austin Box now. I double-dog dare you.
Oops.
Should read “…Jackson dis’es OU’s…”

Players will never learn
and Jackson apparently knows nothing about alleged FSU fans calling out the defense. Gonna be a rude awakening come saturday
This isn't going to end well for Jackson or Mizzou

we already have about 4 or 5 hits we could use

Dumb to say?
Probably, but I’d say the reactions to the tweet — which are nearly as dumb — make it obvious that Jackson is just as likely to have induced the Sooners into a 15 yard flag as much as anything else. Either that or a failure to wrap up because they’re so set on crushing him.
they don't have to set it up or plan it,,
knocking the living hell out of WR’s comes naturally to the Sooners! Get him ready/

for the very same reason all players do
I cannot count the number of times that I have seen college football players show off etc for making a play. It’s footballdammit, you are supposed to make the play. Unless your team is the Little Sisters of the Poor, I am sure that I have several of yoru players thump their chests as well.
Move along, you are not needed here.

Thank You Mr. Jackson!!
Man after the battle we had Saturday, I was a little worried about a possible hangover effect….guys being emotionally drained and all despite the revenge factor in this game. Whew! Thanks to Mr. Jackson my worries are over. Big relief!

nice work there jj…..think about the fsu wr that was knocked cold at the goalline…..that was kids play compared to the gas you just poured on the fire…..CANT WAIT
RESPECT!!!
Seriously guys, don’t you think this is getting old? I don’t think I’ve seen any other fan base get fired up the way you do when an opposing player says anything about your team.
Isn’t there a good deal of sports psychology research out there that says this sort of thing is actually counter-productive and gets kids worked up to much and lower performance? Oh wait, its Mizzou thats been investing a good deal of money into researching these things…
Oh mudiehard
