Oklahoma- Florida State predictions
Time to make your prediction! FSU improved over the course of the season last year, but they are breaking in a new QB this season. OU returned nearly everybody, but will be light at linebacker because of the loss of Austin Box (RIP) and Lewis. I think the game will be pretty good, and that FSU will benefit from some hometown refereeing. I think OU conquered it's on the road jitters last year at the end of the season.
OU 45 FSU 31

Can't wait to see y'all in Tallahassee!
But, I do have to mention that it is the common perception that FSU never gets preferential treatment from ACC refs. It’s been said it skews the other way. Then again, every fan feels this way about their team. Having said that…
I predict it will be by five points or less. My gut says Oklahoma, but my heart screams Florida State. So, Go Noles!

By looking at your tag line
You must respect my profile image, no?

Absolutely! Still one of the greatest movies ever made. The signature I chose was more stranger-friendly than my preferred quote from the movie.

Does it start with...
“Excuse me while I…”
If so, I must agree. Could be a little offensive. And yes, one of the all time classics. Of course, that is how I feel about “Fletch”, which is where my tag line was taken from.
Let’s go Noles!

No. “Where all the….” is my favorite line. I’ve been known to just randomly say it for no apparent reason. Fletch is also a great movie. Fletch Lives isn’t terrible, either.
I predict Noles 24-21. SCALP EM, NOLES!

Hometown reffing
Just wanted to state I wasn’t implying that FSU is crooked or anything, it just seems like everytime OU travels to a big nonconf game that we get screwed by the refs at some point. Guess you could call it paranoia, but I’m sure even the non-OU fans are aware of what transpired in Oregon a few years ago.
Oh, honey, no. The refs are just as inclined to flag FSU for foolery as anyone else. Y’all will do fine!

ACC Refs are bad across the board
If Ron Cherry refs, look for about 20 holding calls. Can’t wait for OU to come here. Should be really fun.
I'm only 31
Go Noles
Go Bucs
I thought that it was going to be big 12 refs for this game?

Yes typically traveling team brings the refs.

yes, but when OU plays
the other conference refs project bias against the Sooners to the real refs telepathically. It’s because the Sooners are so good. Wouldn’t be fair otherwise.
Dogs bark in the night but the caravan moves on.
You kid, but if you'd watched as many OU games as we have
You’d know we’re only half joking. Or really just that paranoid. Could probably go either way.

Anyone who watched that Oregon game
Except some Duck homers would be paranoid about hometown refs.
by ClarkusKentus on Sep 17, 2011 1:50 PM CDT up reply actions
I hope if Oregon comes to Norman again
That we stack the game with hometown referees…and MAKE IT OBVIOUS.
It's Sooner than Later for the NOLES!
The true test for Jimbo Fisher and the Noles on Saturday night will be whether or not he and his crew can out smart the coaching staff of the Sooners. If anyone has found a way to beat the Noles in the game, without them just beating themselves when it comes to a match-up like this, its Bob Stoops and his minions. However, even if you think the emergence of their new quarterback Manuel at the helm this year still seems crippling, FSUs players resemble the Bobby Bowden days of old where they look as if they could walk out onto any field and kick any teams butt. With some proper play calling, skillfully talented players, and dare I say home field advantage, the Noles should come out victorious despite the refs. Hint to Jimbo, don’t rush as much and watch for the screen if you do. FSU – Americas College Football Team Forever. Go Noles!!
Hometown referring
Is a joke. If you’ve ever watched a game in Doak, you’d know this certainly isn’t the case. It’s more like home town atmosphere and field that’ll be an advantage, not refs. No doubt this game will be closer than last years game. I think if FSU is still in the game in the 4th quarter, they have a legit shot at winning with the home crowd advantage. However, if I were to put money on the game, OU would be the smarter pick.
Solid contribution as usual

absolutely the most insane and ridiculous preduction ever made on this forum
this type comment warrants coming from a texassian but they have more respect and sense than what your post displayed.
The one thing being a lot older has going for it, most of us older have seen more CFB than most younger people have seen web pages.
how could anyone interpret this as sincere?
sincere prediction: Landry throws at least 1 INT to our DBs… last year he threw 10 on the road/neutral field (and only 2 at home). The crowd does affect him…. to be fair, whenever OU shows up somewhere they have to face a belligerent crowd.
Championship!
The crowd may affect him a little
but I think it would be more accurate to say his lack of support from the O line (see OU vs Mizzou last year) is what affected him most. My prediction: If they play well, he will play well; and if he plays well without mistakes, they win.

are working with a brand-new-to-the-position RT.

Not entirely accurate
a brand-new-to-the-position RT
Daryl Williams is the starter and expected to play. He is not brand new to the position. I know everybody took what Bud was saying about him not playing and ran with it, but that was a little premature.

OU does rotate its linemen though, yes?
I like the idea of our our guys, 1s or 2s or 3s, playing against your backups.
It’ll be an interesting battle to watch.
Crazy prediction
The new-to-the-position backup RT either catches or throws(!) a TD this season.

I predict an OU victory.
If you train people properly, they won't be able to tell a drill from the real thing. If anything, the real thing will be easier. --Richard Marcinko
I see the Vegas line has been creeping back towards FSU
OU opened at 3.5 to 4 point favorites depending on where you looked…now only 3 point favorites. Must have been more money being put down on FSU.
I don’t see this being that high scoring of a game, especially early. When both teams get amped up, there tends to be sloppy play and a lot of attrition.
Both teams will be probably trying to spread things out and get a lot of different receivers involved. I think we’ll see a lot of “bend but don’t break” defense with a fair number of field goals.
Final score will probably be something like 26-23, either way.

Over at CFN scout they are now predicting FSU to win
Seems they have more faith in EJ Manuel as a strict passer than I have. The hype surrounding this game is making me nervous. I’ll be much more comfortable if and when we can put this one in the W column and be done with it.

EJ will run
and then run some more. Expect him to finish with a minimum of 15 rushing attempts this game.
Championship!
sounds right to me, I noticed that you have Little Jimmy missing a PAT

FSU ain't ready...
And they may be the most overrated team in the country. I hope they didn’t fill up on cupcakes, because they’re going to need to pack a lunch for this one.
OU 39
FSU 17
Even though we disagree, I loved this. Made me chuckle.

OU is the better team, even with their personnel losses
They win 6 out of ten, or seven of ten, on a neutral field where only football is involved. FSU, though, setting the lost decade aside (although there are one or two spectacular showings even in those crappy years), has a history of playing over its head, road or home, in bowls and highly hyped games. Most Nole fans know have witnessed what I’m saying. I don’t really know how they are going to do it, but they will make this game more than competitive. I think that’s why the line has moved. The Noles win because they are deeper, better coached and more talented than they have been in a decade-plus and I think it will be very hard for an extremely talented OU team to match the energy FSU will bring to the field Saturday night.
Having said all that; I wouldn’t put money on it.
Dogs bark in the night but the caravan moves on.
I think Jimbo has done a phenomenal job of sandbagging and showing absolutely nothing with respect to this game as he has done in recruiting.
I think Bert will be at full speed, as will Chris Thompson, and the running game will be better than last year (when it got our O to #7 despite being 68th in passing). He’s had a grin on his face all week and at his daily press conferences through the whole fall camp he has praised the running game daily when he’s talked about O 1s going against our D 1s. Either our D really sucks, Jimbo doesn’t know what he’s been talking about, or he’s been sandbagging. The running game is the one thing about our offense that he’s said he isn’t worried about.
