How Stoops is ranked at #4 is beyond me
I know tons of people are looking at the BCS losses and disregarding what it takes to actually get there. On top of the Chizik makes the jump after a single scandal filled season and at #1 is a guy who had never lead a team to a National Championship.
Uh, Gene
Iowa State fans are on the phone for you

you shouldn’t even qualify until you’ve coached in an AQ conference. this is like comparing japanese pitching statistics to the majors.
Well thats a swift kick in the...
Sorry Ames…

clearly we are all just just not in on the joke...

Fisher DeBerry
Maybe I’m biased, because I’m right here in USAFA territory, but I think with what USAFA gets every year (they can’t recruit football players), I think DeBerry was one of the best coaches…
Opinions?!?!?
I think DeBerry did a great job at taking what he had and having a winning percentage of 60 for 23 years!!!!!
Petersen/Hawkins
So, if Hawkins was still at BSU, would he be #3 instead? We all know what happens when he left for CU.
S.I. has too make it controvercial or no one will read their tripe.
If S.I. would have come out with a list like Sabin, Stoops, Beamer, JoPa, and Ferentz, you’d get some, but not nearly as much reaction as throwing Chizik and a couple of mid-level conference coaches in the mix.
How low has S.I. become if they feel the need to break out with a “Best Football Coach” article when there is so much more going on in the college world right now. Pathetic!

I would
love to see what Patterson and Peterson would do in a BCS conference. Patterson almost joined a BCS conference in the Big East, I mean, it is on paper anyway. But, till you actually see it on the field I don’t think you can rank them that high. No problem with Saban and Stoops being on there both deserve it. Gene Chizik???? All he did was go get the best player, and probably players, that money could buy and win a title. Tressel, Carrol, and Harbaugh are gone so that kind of depleted the pool a little. Where is Oregon’s coach and Joe Paterno?
What time will Mack be on Espin pleading his case as a top 5 coach?

Really ????
Stoops number 4? criteria for being ahead of Stoops 1. More than 1 Natl. Championship 2. More wins 3. Overcome more adversity 4. ACTUALLY HAVE TO BE BETTER!!!!!
What utter horse squeeze
Gary Patterson #1?
I could see 1. Saban, 2. Stoops, and from there who cares. Gene Chizik wouldn’t even smell the top 10 much less top 5. This list is a joke.

Iowa St fans are most confused by this...
i believe they’ve upgraded at the head coach position in a big way with Paul Rhoads. They should have Cam Newton’s name next to Chizick’s in parenthesis.

Gary Patterson and Chris Peterson are some of the best non BCS conference coaches, but nowhere near the best in college football.
The list should be something like:
1. Saban
2. Stoops
3. Petrino
4. Pelini
5. Kelly
Chip or Bryan Kelly?
Chip seems to be more of a scumbag with each passing day. Plus he inherited a decent situation to begin with.

thanks to a solid coach in his own right, Mike Belotti

To me, the fight for #1 is between Stoops and Peterson.
Mack Brown deserves some love for winning as much as he has. Seriously. Last season was not an aberration, but shouldn’t be determinative.
(I kinda want saxeT to be good just because beating them if they were mediocre wouldn’t make it as sweet.)
In the immortal words of Socrates, "I drank what?"
My take...
Saban
Stoops
Beamer
B Kelley
Mullen

Although I am a Notre Dame fan and Brian Kelly has won everywhere he has been, I’ll need to see him prove himself in South Bend before I would put him in the top 5.
