OU Football - DB Marcus Trice to transfer
Well, the expected (and necessary) attrition with respect to OU football has another victim. Defensive back Marcus Trice has decided to transfer according to a release from the university this afternoon. This had been rumored for a little while, but as we prefer to do here we waited until the news was official so as not to spread false information. However, in a statement today Coach Stoops confirmed the news:
Marcus is looking for another opportunity and we’ll do everything we can to help him find a good situation, coach Bob Stoops said in a statement. Marcus has worked hard here and will leave with our best wishes.
Trice was a kid who at 5'8" on a good day struggled to find a spot on the field in the defensive backfield. In fact, he had been rumored to working at WR during practices last year in an effort to potentially increase his chances at playing time. He was however a standout special teams player and frequently contributed to tackles and/or big plays on punt and kick coverage.
It's always unfortunate to see a talented kid leave the program, but if it's mostly about finding playing time then I can never blame them. Hopefully this is what's best for Marcus and he will find success at another program. Good luck Marcus from Sooner Nation!

not unexpected

Trotter, in the link above, essentially calls Trice the “snitch” from the OU secondary violation story from last week. Which isn’t a leap necessarily, but probably not a great idea to do in print unless you have an actual source aside from just pure speculation.
However if true, then his decision to transfer is definitely the best thing for both sides. If he truly was the snitch then he needed to be gone. I’d be disappointed because by all accounts he was (at least at one point) a big “team guy” but maybe not playing changed his attitude a little bit?

Probably best for all parties involved
Marcus Trice is a hell of an athlete, but he’s been recruited around. There’s more talent in front of him, and more coming behind him. It’s only fair to let him go on his way.
If he really was the snitch, he may have been trying to send the coaches a message to get them to let him go.
if he wants to play
and start immediately, take the short drive to stoolwater
