I have never been this embarresd watching an OU team in a season

They let Tech end our home streak, Baylor beat us for the 1st time, and OSU is blowing us out and no one on this team manned up after any of this. Take some pride with the letters OU on that helmet. Its suppose to mean something!

The team has raw talent.

The coaching staff used to be able to develop it. But 3 losses when you’re preseason #1….the end of the home winning streak….the coaching staff needs a shakeup. Never ever thought I would say it. But Stoops either needs to get rid of some folks or he needs to go himself. This season was a friggin’ joke.

Does the university really need to pay $5 M per year for a 9 win season? Seriously. Can’t we get 9 wins out of a $2 M coach? It’s Bob’s job to get us to BCS games, not the Alamo Bowl and if the current coaching staff isn’t getting it done, it’s time to make some difficult choices. (I mean with his assistants.)

Man I’m only 23 but this is the most underachieving and lifeless ou team I’ve ever seen. Serious changes need to be made coaching and personnel wise. The philosophies we have instilled are seriously flawed. And if lj comes back he deserves to be a back up.

We’ve seen Landry’s ceiling and it’s not good enough. Neither is Bob’s status quo, but sadly nothing it changing here and nobody has enough pull to make Bob do any different.

I hate to go down this road

but you are right, Stoops can’t just get a pass and he needs to change something or be changed. I think the fat contracts these head coaches get foster complacency, and Stoops is not exempt. Everything this season since Texas has been shaky at best, no adjustments made, just stay the course.

I agree. But when someone’s best isn’t good enough its time for change. And shame on anyone who doesn’t have the nuts to question stoops and his staffs flaws. You would think with the prestige and talent we have and all the times we have underachieved someone would put Stoops in his place. How long can you let this mediocrity continue?

Gotta say

this feels like the beginning of the end to me. Starting the season with high expectations only to see everything fall apart….just the kind of scenario where the Head Coach himself starts to unravel and can never get back rhythm again…..and begins to just spiral.

We've seen it with other coaches, NFL included

Do great in the early years, but after a few rough seasons with some big disappointments, they just lose control.

i lived through the 90s. i suffered through U$C.

this is worse. never in my lifetime have I been more embarrassed by an OU team. someone has to answer for this. no more b.s. coach speak excuses. changes need to be made. nothing less.

We’ve had some huge disappointments as Sooner fans, but this tops them all. To start off believing this team was gonna bring home #8 and then this.

I do think Brody Eldredge was right by the way….never should have brought ESPiN into that locker room.

A lot of us hoped Landry would finally be able to work out the kinks this year

Especially when he can look great other times. But now it’s pretty clear he will never learn consistency and will probably become like Rex Grossman was with the Bears…..throwing INT’s and warming the bench.

I think what some people (like me)

simply reject the notion that bring back Mike Stoops is gonna fix our defense like some sort of magic bullet. Bob Stoops is gonna to have to do something about this defense himself; it is clearly not good enough to stop the spread attack.

Not like things could get any worse. I think college football in general is in a phase where offenses – the spread in particular – have the advantange right now. Several years from now perhaps the pendulum will swing back – it always does – but for now defensive coordinators don’t seem to have any real answers.

The problem isn’t that coordinators don’t know how to scheme and stop the spread, the problem is that the answer starts with elite defensive tackles. It isn’t a coincidence that the Big 12 had a record year for offenses when their truly isn’t a single elite defensive tackle in the conference this season.

that the tampa 2 has been figured out and it doesn’t work against the spread, if anybody comes in and runs that scheme i think they will have worse luck than venebles, I really could handle venebles staying if they changed the scheme

Pittsburg State

this little school in the southeast corner of Kansas, is in the semi-finals of the Div 2 playoffs. My daughter graduated from there last year, good little school. Funny thing, coach doesn’t make a bajillion dollars and there isn’t a 5, or 4 or even 3 star primadona athletes, and its a fun team to watch. So go Gorillas… I think I am calling it a year on the Sooners…

They do suck

but I didn’t expect them to beat up on Nebraska last year either and they did. Going into Bowl season flat against another team that is fired up and ready to prove something is a bad combination that can yield results that otherwise might have seemed impossible.

They could be a lot better if they got a qb that could throw….and remember, we only beat the Huskers by 3 last year.

Bottom line

this team just flat gave up out there….you could see it in everything they did. Stills may need to just go on to the NFL if this is what we can expect from him in the future. I still can’t believe what I’m seeing from these guys right now.
