Irish Denied!

As Joyner picks the tipped pass in the end zone and runs it out.

Rumor has it that Texas is about to sign a huge corporate sponsorship deal for the Longhorn Network. They just have to decide which brand represents them best: Dyson, Eureka or Hoover.

So not sad

Will have to watch in a bit

Then FSU returns the favor with a fumble

ND 7 FSU 0

Those Irish are BEASTS

They were able to sack that huge QB for FSU.

Still 7 – 0 in the 2nd Q

make that more bigger, more stronger, and more faster

The one thing being a lot older has going for it, most of us older have seen more CFB than most younger people have seen web pages.

An future nfl first rounders on the 3rd string.

You know there’s 18 of them or something

I know, we had a book written on a single thread from the nolelaw dude.

Reading his crap was like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard

FSU stopped inches short on a fake punt

ND ball with 7:00 to go in the first half.

Not sure which half was worse

This one or the Holiday Bowl. Hopefully both teams start to execute some offense in the second half. For our sake, I hope FSU gets it together and pulls away from the Irish quickly.

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 6:03 PM CST reply actions

the Holiday bowl was truly sucky wucky

and someone here predicted UTexass was going to score 44 points.

This year and last year it took texass between 3 to 5 games to score 44 points

My last project of the year for work is forcing me to work from my office at home

…but espn3 was only giving me audio in here. I’ve been walking to the next room to see what was going on every little bit. Let’s hope FSU can put the golden domers away.

Between our heisman winners

and the players that we have helped win Heismans we should be getting some residual payments from the Heisman trust. If Weeden had not blown it against ISU, think how close the competition would have been between him and RGIII after Bedlam

Sadly I went to the downtown athletic club in August.

Took some pics… Had on an OU visor. Didn’t yell boomer. Highlight of my trip to NYC.

There's a crazy thought

Use your running QB outside the 5-yard line to really mix it up in the red zone

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 6:28 PM CST reply actions

And Mr. G5 is the one shaken up on the scoring play

What a crazy catch that guy made. It looked like a cat playing with his prey.

Nice return on the KO

FSU needs to stick this one in the end zone b/c it sounds like they have lost their entire secondary and Floyd is going to go wild the rest of the game

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 6:36 PM CST reply actions

Their oline coach or coordinator needs to make some adjustments

ND is getting a couple guys untouched into the backfield – still Manuel should have thrown that one away.

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 6:37 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah he should have.

I was more looking at the 4 guys standing around not blocking any one.

I just saw a video clip of Stoops talking about the exodus of players on the news9 sports report

They don’t have the video up on their website yet, but he spoke about (a) missing class, (b) missing time in the weight room, © drug tests, etc. He mentioned not renewing some scholarships since they are here to go to class and also to be the best football player they can be.

Pretty refreshing to hear him speak his mind.

Question

Who returns their program to national prominence first – Brian Kelly or Jimbo Fisher?

C. False?

by It'sTheVoice on Dec 29, 2011 7:01 PM CST up reply actions

Jimbo looks lost.

Depends on definition of prominence. ND will never return to the early years.

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 7:14 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I would define it as consecutive top 10 finishes

Additionally, for FSU, they obviously have to win the ACC at least once
ND needs to go 10-2 at worst and go to a BCS bowl

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 7:30 PM CST up reply actions

Hmmm tough call.

FSU will probably finish ranker higher more quickly. But nd has easier path to bcs game. Not title game.

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 7:32 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I had forgotten that we are playing ND next year

I wonder who I could bribe to get tickets to that game?

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 7:54 PM CST reply actions

Where are you in texass?

Shouldn’t be hard. If you know any season ticket holder have them request extra. I ended up with 4 (plus my 2) to FSU & I am
Not a donor.

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 7:59 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I'm in Austin

I’ll ask around and see – that would be an awfully fun first game for one of the kids

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 8:03 PM CST up reply actions

How old are yours?

It should be pretty easy, i have never requested extra & not gotten. If all else fails go to ticket marketplace on sooner sports.com. Iits where season ticket holders sale at face value. I think you might have to pay $20 to “open” an account to buy the tix.

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 8:08 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

12, 7, 5

The youngest two are only semi-interested at this point and by next year I have a feeling that the oldest might be more interested in the fairer sex than gameday – maybe I could just adopt a gung-ho young Sooner fan for the day….

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 8:13 PM CST up reply actions

10 & 5.

The 5 year old is actually more into it then the 10 year old. He now is only into the big games. First game. Texass. He gets very involved!

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 8:19 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I just noticed this

FSU’s players are HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!!!!!

How is this allowed under NCAA rules. It’s just unfair. They’re so much bigger than every other team!!!

by Jordan Esco on Dec 29, 2011 7:54 PM CST reply actions

his backup stepped in against Tech and did okay

But I don’t know that means anything really since Tech only seemed to show up to play us. No idea bout their depth at receiver, but I have to guess everything is a drop-off – not to mention confidence-wise they have so much wrapped up in RGIII, I think they regress to more normal Baylor levels but not crater 100%

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 8:07 PM CST up reply actions

as you say

A couple quarters vs. a whole season are two very different things

by Jordan Esco on Dec 29, 2011 8:14 PM CST up reply actions

just looked at their 2012 schedule

I think they can win 6 games as they have SMU, UL-Monroe, and Sam Houston (FCS), plus KU (FCS-like but in FBS) on their schedule, plus Iowa State and Tech are good possibilities also.

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 8:19 PM CST up reply actions

Does UW have any chance in this game?

I know next to nothing about them – do they match up well at all with Baylor? (BTW – it is still really strange to think of Baylor as a favorite in a bowl – or even in a bowl – just as weird as to think of us losing to them)

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 8:05 PM CST reply actions

just got in from some family stuff

sounds like i missed a good first game today?

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 9:06 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

How did we not run for a gazillion yards against Baylor?

I can’t watch any team that we played against and lost to – well, okay, maybe OSU, and understand how we lost. Baylor can’t tackle anybody.

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 9:26 PM CST reply actions

If only OU

Had an offensive line. Washington is pounding Baylor right now. UW’s DTs look real tough right now too. Why can’t OU have any of those?

by SCKSChief on Dec 29, 2011 9:28 PM CST via mobile reply actions

How did we not put up a gazillion points on this Baylor defense?

I can’t get over our losses – we just really made a mess in the bed several times when we should have won those games.

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 9:31 PM CST reply actions

And Price

Is showing us what the offense could look like with an actual athlete at QB.

by SCKSChief on Dec 29, 2011 9:33 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Amazing - UW puts up 35 in 1st half

and we do 38 for the game. Unbelievable….

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 9:40 PM CST up reply actions

OU not running on Baylor

Is completely embarrassing right now. Unreal.

by SCKSChief on Dec 29, 2011 9:40 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Sarkisian is a good coach

and I think he could do some good things at UW and get them in contention for a P12 title.

nope

There is an Indoor Football League team that plays in Loveland…the Colorado ICE.

by Redhawk on Dec 29, 2011 11:19 PM CST up reply actions

I think they lost buckets

Elway pushed to move the season back to the summer from the Feb. start. I understand when they “suspended” the season, the Crush were the leaders that did that.

I had season tickets 2 seasons…..my friends got tired of me asking them to go to the games.

by Redhawk on Dec 29, 2011 11:22 PM CST up reply actions

it's not real football

it has it’s own strategies. …playing time, playing for last possession, giving points so you get the ball back.

by Redhawk on Dec 29, 2011 11:25 PM CST up reply actions

there's really not another sport

I can compare it to.

Games could be measured in “stops” and many announcers and fans did.

by Redhawk on Dec 29, 2011 11:29 PM CST up reply actions

they are getting their money's worth

if you only go to a bowl game every once in a while they are at least making it count

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 11:20 PM CST up reply actions

My husbands grandmother has 5 season tickets.

This year they used about half. Usually they go to 3 games or so. She calls it giving back.

Nice play

Bad coverage

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 11:19 PM CST via mobile reply actions

ok...Baylor

kick it HIGH off the nets and play for the rebound!

by Redhawk on Dec 29, 2011 11:22 PM CST reply actions

maybe we should have done that against them

still dumbfounded that we only were able to score 38 points against this defense

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 11:24 PM CST up reply actions

Trying not to think that

But you’re likely right.

by SCKSChief on Dec 29, 2011 11:29 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Uh, well, I think we are pretty sucky

I am just confused as to why – it was just such a strange season – starting with having a dynamic walk-on at RB, the wild fluctuations in play, highs (seriously – for a week after the RRS I was thinking we were heading straight to NOLA), then the defensive lapses in the secondary and the wheels coming off repeatedly in the first half of games. It is just tooo much to consider or figure out at this point.

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 11:31 PM CST up reply actions

I have no clue where it went wrong either

I think it starts with: Our best running back is a walk on from Langston

by Redhawk on Dec 29, 2011 11:34 PM CST up reply actions

yeah I wonder about this too

I mean I understand guys get missed in recruiting or don’t necessarily pan out, but it seems to point to a larger problem that we had three guys in front of him and he outplayed / worked all of them. Buy -in, bad initial evaluations, combo of those – makes it seem like they have lost that edge that they had for the first dozen years or so.

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 11:38 PM CST up reply actions

I think our coaches suck.

There is no reason for that play calling against Baylor, isu or bedlam

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 11:34 PM CST up reply actions

but, but...

he has all those Big 12 championships!

by Redhawk on Dec 29, 2011 11:37 PM CST up reply actions

Did say bob.

Play calling = josh & norvell

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 11:39 PM CST up reply actions

the more I read about how he thought THIS team

was the one to win #8 makes me wonder. Again, he sees them every day so maybe he saw something early on that did not show up, but if he is so off in evaluating his own team then we are truly heading down a slope from which we will not recover until we have coaching changes.

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 11:45 PM CST up reply actions

Idk. But I know the team I watched at fsu & Dallas

Was not the team I saw after the tech game. Period. In any way shape or form.

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 11:47 PM CST up reply actions

Agreed - After that FSU game, I thought LJ had turned the corner

He made plays – he responded to drives and LED the team to scores. I thought we had the pieces even if I still had concerns about how we could fall asleep in the secondary at times.

The RRS – maybe that was the problem – the defense used a season’s worth of great plays and energy in one game. After that they had nothing in the tank.

by chrisabo on Dec 29, 2011 11:51 PM CST up reply actions

I guess.

Fleming injury & worts nagging injury during the RRR I think lead to the tech disaster & then we were snake bit…..

I still think josh tried to force Landry into being comfortable w/out broyles, instead of spreading it around & being patient.

by OU JJ on Dec 29, 2011 11:55 PM CST up reply actions

Everyone seems to forget that the Whaleys's injury was big big big

We actually had a running game with Whaley. After he went down the running game turned to crapola. No run game = Depending on HFJ

The one thing being a lot older has going for it, most of us older have seen more CFB than most younger people have seen web pages.

If they leave any time on the clock, RGIII is going to score

they have to score a TD with ten or less seconds left to win

In case you are wondering. There were 4 game threads for fsu.

A post game.
And an “overflow Norte dame spanking” thread.
