The recruiting news just continues to pour in and as usual we have to give props to SoonerScoop ($)
for once again breaking the news of five star WR Nelson Agholor
's potential visit this coming weekend. We've been telling you all week about the high profile names heading to Norman for OU's football banquet and how it's shaping up to be a gigantic recruiting weekend.
The news of Agholor's possible visit comes as somewhat of a surprise as Oklahoma hasn't been mentioned all that often in his recent interviews. There is some speculation that this could possibly be a kid using one of his five official visits just to take a trip, but those kind of assumptions are dangerous especially in the game of recruiting. Plus, a kid from Florida doesn't generally take a trip to Norman in the middle of December if he isn't at least a little interested right? Any time you can get a kid on campus there is no telling what could happen. In addition, he's listed as a WR by some of the recruiting services but that doesn't necessarily mean that's where the Sooners see him. They could be looking at him for RB or even on the defensive side of the ball possibly.
If Agholor and the other previously mentioned visitors are all able to make it to Norman, the Sooners are looking at hosting the #1, #4, #8, & #12 overall players in the 2012 class. Now obviously commitments are the end game, but just having that kind of talent on campus all at the same time says something about this coaching staff and football program.
In other recruiting news, SoonerScoop ($)
has also learned that OU has recently offered JUCO RB Damien Williams
. So that would now make three relatively new RB offers in recent weeks which can only be taken as a sign of some possibly significant issues we have at that position currently.
