OU offensive lineman Stephen Good arrested

Photo

Oklahoma offensive lineman, Stephen Good, was arrested early Sunday morning on a reported assault and battery charge.  The alleged incident occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday in the Campus Corner area of Norman following the Sooners win over Texas A&M several hours prior.

Very little details are available at this point, but needless to say very disappointing not just because it took place.  But also because Good is a senior who should clearly know better to put himself in this kind of position.

Good

This kid was another 5-star bust. Kids can’t always control if they pan out or not, but they can control doing stupid stuff, particularly when they are 22 or 23 and not 18 or 19. Very disappointing news. But Adam Shead can play. And that’s wonderful.

I will say

My first thought when I heard this was what freaking idiot with a death wish tried to take on a 300+ pound, power lifting, offensive lineman?!?

Hehe

True enough. But the fact is that though these guys are big and strong, football is NOT a martial art. If this guy got in a fight with one of the heavy guys from the wrestling team he’d get his ass handed to him on a silver platter :D

One of my good friends

is an OU wrestler (doesn’t feature though) and rugby player. Doesn’t weigh more than 200 but I know for a fact he could take Good.

BTW, was really sorry to hear about Broyles. When I saw him on the cart, I shed a tear myself.

Yeah

it’s a damn shame. he’s a kid that loves playing, and it broke his heart to end his season. Let’s hope he successfully rehabs and has a great NFL career.

Hell

if Welker can come back from two knees I think Broyles can come back just as strong. Broyles projected to slot reciever anyway.

He’ll be a great interview during the combines, I know somebody will take a shot at him.

eh

The Tulsa World reported it was a muni complaint and not as bad as it sounds. dumb move, but hardly news.

^this^

I think this is exactly why you reserve judgment when this kind of stuff first comes out. I have also read something similar to this and would agree that it sounds like much less of a big deal than I originally feared.

Assault and battery?

I hope it’s not as bad as it sounds b/c it sounds pretty freaking bad!

I saw him out on Saturday night...

and I agree with you BagOWine on 747…but I dont think every bar sucks

by Soonerfan89 on Nov 7, 2011 1:23 PM CST reply actions

Probably

not an incident worth much worry, esp if it is a muni charge, guessing it wasn’t much more than a good old bar fight and someone didn’t watch the door for the law…having said that, I really wish these guys would watch what situations they put themselves in, in my day a fight was a fight, now you never know when a wanna be gang banger is going to pull a gun and when you are an athlete like this, you walk into a place and have a target on you.

It would be nice if these players would stay out of bars and nightclubs during the season

If you’re not in there, then there can’t be a problem. I expect Stoops to render up some kind of disciplinary measure as he should, but damn, why does this crap keep happening!

The one thing being a lot older has going for it, most of us older have seen more CFB than most younger people have seen web pages.
