Not to Dredge up Old Memories of Conference Realignment but...
Interesting interview today on KC's WHB with Gary Pinkle, HC Mizzou. Link below to the podcast. I sometimes think I have an interesting perspective here in KC, as I get to hear what fans and coaches, AD's say from at least 3 other schools in this area, concerning the Big 12, Texas, OU etc.
Pinkle basically comes out and says OU President David Boren pushed MU into the SEC, after he says the Big 12 Presidents had all agreed to stick together, then the next day Dr. Boren comes out and announces OU is looking at its options. You can call Pinkle any number of things, and you don't have to search back too long ago to find Mizzou fans ready to run him out of town, but one thing I have always found is he is pretty straight forward.
As the entire "OU is heading to the PAC 12" situation unfolded and then folded, I read with interest on this site, and others, how badly many fans thought Dr Boren had bungled this entire deal, and now if this interview holds even half true, it was worse than I thought. I have no idea what Boren was trying to accomplish, but his credibility with the other schools in the Big 12 has to be shaky at best.
I still think Mizzou is in for a rude awakening as they go to the SEC, the prevailing thought here in KC seems to be that they compare to Arkansas, it may be closer to Vanderbilt or Ole Miss. But who can really blame them for leaving?

Mizzou has been wanting to jump ship for years now
There’s no doubt in my mind that Bored goofed but I also believe it was just an excuse for Missouri do go ahead and do want they already had intentions of doing
yeah
they kind of got the ball rolling with the fake big 10 invite.
"Nonsense. By all means, move." Doc Holliday, the movie Tombstone.
for Mizzou to blame anyone else
is really silly.
They did start this by begging the Big 10 for an invite.
Now, I don’t blame them for wanting to not be left out if the Big 12 eventually does split. I don’t blame them for wanting to be the Big 10..heck any school would want that cash
But blaming OU? It’s reaching. I’m sure Boren didn’t play the cards right or win any fans….but it’s not OU’s fault Missouri took stability and Mo Money.
I-55 will soon be known as the Highway of 'Sadness' for Mizzou and it's fans
can you imagine how many times that is going suck having to make that long drive home after a butt kickin?
In each of those vehicles there will be much wailing and gnashing of the teeth. I would even bet a fight or two breaks out in some of those vehicles. Hell, some of the fans may even toss some of their Mizzou gear out the windows.
The one thing being a lot older has going for it, most of us older have seen more CFB than most younger people have seen web pages.
Wish OU would go....
TO THE SEC with Mizzou…We can talk about how badly Coach Stoops and Venables have prepared these teams, but I believe it also might have something to do with the competition we play year in and year out. Sure playing Texas is a dicey proposition each year, however we put up ‘half-a-hundred’ on them, and Kansas St., who by the way as we all know is going to a better bowl game and is ranked ahead of us…OSU, who beat the red out of our jerseys, got hosed in the BCS, why? Competition. You play the Iowa States of the world long enough you end up playing like them, and then eventually losing to them.
MISSOURI and TEXAS A&M? I don’t believe they left because they thought they could dominate the conference. It was money, and the fact that they weren’t getting any better in the Big 12 or the Little 10, or whatever the conference is called now.
The Sooners need to make a lot of changes, coaching, conference and competition..Maybe it can be as simple as the ‘3 C’s’, then again maybe not….
