Oklahoma men's basketball placed on three years probation
Finally, closure.
It would appear all the drama that Oronde Taliaferro, Tiny Gallon, and Jeff Capel caused has finally come to an end with the NCAA's decision today to place the OU men's basketball program on three years probation. Additionally, the university will have to pay a $15,000 fine, lose one scholarship, some limits on recruiting, and all 13 wins from the 2009-10 season have been vacated.
Most of the penalties were suggested by OU, so much of this does not come as a surprise. Finally, this program can move on from this and get back to doing things the right way and winning basketball games. I have no doubt Coach Kruger is the right man to do just that.

I believe the hiring of Kruger was prime evidence to the NCAA
the the athletic department was serious about getting back to doing things the right way.
seriously…..when was the last time you went to Ames? ever?
The programs is lucky to have both him, and his track record.

My sentiments exactly
I guess it could’a been worse . . .
but if you look at the ‘benefits’ of those violations, all you can do is scratch your head.
If it wasn’t OU, this would be comical.

At least they win
Boise’s Football teams won as much as the OU basketball team during the period in question.
I’m just not smart enough to understand the wisdom behind some of these rules. I do understand mistakes. I do not understand making the same mistakes repeatedly after you said you understood the problem and would not engage in the same behavior.
Going to be a while before we get to turn the page on this stuff.

Feels fair
no complaints from over here. (also thanks to several other big schools with far worse violations for taking the heat off us…)
