ESPiN reporting that DE Mario Edwards will likely decommit from Florida State. Is he reconsidering the Sooners after our rout of the Longhorns yesterday?

Holy crap!

Great find soonergal! Obviously w/ recruiting anything can happen when you’re depending on a decision from an 18-year old, but that sounded VERY positive for OU.

Hope DGB was watching yesterday too!!!

Me too!

I’m getting some conflicting reports. I had a text message that said he for sure decommited, but then you go read the article and it’s like he’s in a holding pattern, but leaning towards OU. Said he was a visitor of texass but was rooting for the Sooners yesterday. We’ve been fortunate so far to have played and taken care of each of his “top schools” excepting LSU (and if we take care of business, we could get a chance at them as well). This is exciting, but trying to remain calm. Nothing is official until National Signing Day!

I'd have to think an official visit to Austin

And what looks like today another likely beat down of the Horns at the hands of Okie State will only make OU look all that much better.

If we could get the #1 and #2 overall players in this class, holy crap what a recruiting coup that would be!!!

It's being reported now as well

That Edwards has cancelled what was supposed to be an official visit to Austin this Saturday. Hard not to see this as them ‘politely’ eliminating the Horns IMO.

Winning must be important for Edwards

FSU has sucked since we beat them. And if we can keep winning like this, he’s bound to want us.

I think that's a big part of it

As well as the reality of the difficulty of getting to Tally as compared with the incredibly easy drive up I-35 to Norman.

Seems similar to Adrian Peterson

If I remember correctly, he was on a UT visit in 03. He said to hell with texass and committed to us soon after the beatdown.

Unpossible

NoleLaw and the other FSU azzclowns said he wouldn’t even consider going anywhere else.

It is a ruse I tell you…….. (hah)

seriously…..when was the last time you went to Ames? ever?

Yeah, and he hasn't been wrong lately, has he?

NoleLaw that is…

Rumor has it that Texas is about to sign a huge corporate sponsorship deal for the Longhorn Network. They just have to decide which brand represents them best: Dyson, Eureka or Hoover.

Give them a year or two.

That defense is about to be historic.

New Orleans, here we come.

Speaking of the football experts over at TN

they are at 199 posts and counting on this same article. The aforementioned NoleLaw even references our game with FSU…something about “there were bad calls in two losses to teams ranked in the top 8”.

Many are calling for heads to roll in Tallahassee.

OU really ruined FSU’s season. EJ Manuel was never that good to begin with (despite what FSU fans wanted to tell you), FSU was essentially playing a one game season, and FSU lost by double digits at home in an extremely physical and punishing game. All the FSU players and fans could think about for a year was getting revenge on OU. Well, not only did they not get revenge, they lost at home, suffered some tough injuries, and came away absolutely emotionally drained. All of that hard work, all of that smack talk, all of the “we’ve arrived” talk was killed by OU. The emotionally hangover resulted in a loss the next week, and then the wheels really came off for FSU.

It would be too awesome if we got Mario Edwards after all!

Big losses early

Can ruin a team, We know from BYU two seasons ago, Michigan saw it with App St, FSU this year, Clemson in 09, and Texas last year.

By the way, could you imagine the 2012 class if OU got Mario Edwards, DBG, and Metoyer ends up in Norman in January?!?! That doesn’t even take into account the other awesome recruits OU has like Alex Ross. The 2012 class could be absolutely special with a little bit of luck.

by SoonerSunDevil on Oct 9, 2011 4:49 PM CDT reply actions

It would rival the 2010 class. No doubt. OU seems to have really stepped up in the recruiting area, which is saying something given our success since 2000. But it seems like OU is bringing in higher and higher ranked recruiting classes, for whatever that is worth.

By the way, major props to Casey Walker yesterday. He’s really starting to be a disruptive and much needed force at the DT spot. Torrea Peterson looks like he can be something special one day. It’s a damn shame we don’t have Daniel Noble anymore. That kid was tough and brought a special kind of blue collar attitude I don’t think we’ve seen since DD was next to Tommie Harris.

Absolutely

Walker has clearly emerged as a significant force up front.

I have to think Edwards had to be more impressed with OU"s D ends than Texass'

D ends. Like we’ve been saying all along – OU is simply better at developing talent. Would be awesome if seeing that domination helped make up his mind to become a Sooner.
