Big 12 AD's meet to discuss starting Cable Network

According to Doss Dodds of CBSsports.com several AD's from the Big 12 met in lovely Plano, TX with Learfield Sports about starting a cable network for the Big 12, similiar to that of the Big 10. The success of the Big 10 Network is part of the reason the Big 10 payout per team is near $20 million dollars per team per year from the league.
This meeting was attended by AD's of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Iowa State, Colorado, Missouri and Kansas State.
This meeting was not secret in anyway as the Texas A&M AD tweeted about it. "[People are] interested in creating a cable network for the conference," Byrne told CBSSports.com. "It's something I'm quite interested in ... It's something that our fans are going to be demanding sooner rather than later."
Learfeld manages the multi-media rights for 50 some schools, but one that they don't manage is University of Texas. It's also interesting to note that UT AD wasn't in attendance at these meetings. It's been no secret that UT is working on their own network for TV.
"If they (Texas) can pull that off, my hat's off to them," Byrne said. "We're just having preliminary discussions right now to gauge the level of interest."
One question: Why the hell is Colorado at this meeting? Taking notes to take back the 12-Pac?
It's also interesting to see OU and OSU there, as those 2 were initially talking about a local cable network with the 2 schools and the OKC Thunder. I would assume they are still figuring out what would be the best and easiest move for them to make. Talking as members of the league doesn't mean an Oklahoma Cable network is dead, but I would assume that wouldn't make near as much as a League Network would when you add in the DFW, Houston, and Austin/San Antonio markets.

This guy has some thoughts on that.
Now, the Pac-10 is left with the worst of two worlds. Adding Utah and Colorado will do nothing to enhance its TV viability. Figuring added travel costs, "It may be a net loss," Young said.
The chancellors and presidents still have to give final approval. Let’s hope they stop this freight train in its tracks.
yeah
that article was the other one I posted. This guy really is just a semi-retired adviser. But, I’m sure there is some buyers remorse from the Pac10. The official vote hasn’t happened yet. All it would take is one change of mind and one black ball for this to come unraveled.
And then the Lawyers will start going nuts.
