Looks like Texas can send Oklahoma a big "Thank You!" for keepin the conference together
Boren said the SEC extended offers only to Oklahoma and Texas A&M, both of which opted to stay in a slimmed-down Big 12 after Colorado left for the Pac-10 and Nebraska left for the Big Ten. Because the SEC offer didn’t include two of the Sooners’ key rivals, Oklahoma State and Texas, Boren said he didn’t consider it a good option.
"There was a time when A&M thought they were going to the SEC and they very much wanted us to go with them," Boren said. "Oklahoma, in the whole thing, we were positioned in a way where virtually we could not have lost."
I Found This Very Interesting
"One school doesn’t like the other one to tell them what to do," Boren said, referring to Texas and Texas A&M.
I wish we would've gone
We should’ve teamed up with the Aggies and left the Horns behind. We could’ve gone back to playing the RRR as a non-conf game and if they didn’t like that, just don’t play them at all.
ya, lose your rivalry with Texas, Nebraska, and Okie State all in one fell swoop….. sounds like a grand idea. trade your traditional rivalries for zero monetary gain.

I'm just speaking for myself Displaced Horn
We’ve played Texas for around a century. It’s been great. We’ve won our share and lost our share (I’m 40 and in my lifetime OU is 19-18-3 against Texas). But if the game went away tomorrow, I wouldn’t miss it. That’s just me. I’d be fine playing LSU, Bama, and the rest of the SEC. Better competition overall and more rabid fans as compared to the Big XII.
As for Nebraska and OSU, the Nebraska rivalry hasn’t been the same since the Big XII was formed and OSU, no big loss.
well DL
The rivalry was essentially lost w/ Nebraska when the Big 12 was formed. As Sean said, we could easily keep the RRSO game as a non-con just as it was before when UT was in the SWC. As for the Pukes, can you even call it a rivalry? I mean we have something like a 60 game advantage on them, the only reason it’s even mentioned as a rivalry is because they’re in our state. In all non-football related sports, it would have been even easier to keep the rivalries intact w/ all three schools so I’m not sure I understand the logic behind your criticism.

UT didn't get an invite
most likely because of their UT attitude, you know the one that is ‘me first’, the attitude that is ‘hey, we are the only ones that count’, you know the attitude ’let’s put up the asterisk’, you know the attitude ‘eff OU we’ll fly around with banners’, you know the attitude of ’ TT’s win over us didn’t really count’, you know the attitude of ’we’ll make you put 1 second back on the clock’. Wow that is quite an attitude to take to another conference.
FWIW: I am OU didn’t go to the SEC. That conference is full of the same attitude as well. Stay in B12 and only have to deal with one.
FWIW again: lOSUr State is not a rivalry. It is a butt kickin with the Cowpukes usually claiming ‘we almost won’,‘moral victory’, etc year after year.
Question: Are you guys sending your AD hate mail
for not leaving when given the chance just like A&M is doing?
It Ain't Easy, But It's Worth It.
No, Joe C is very much loved within Sooner Nation
Our program couldn’t be in better hands
