Sooners Drop First Game Of Super Regional
Oklahoma (47-16) held a 2-1 advantage headed to the bottom of the sixth after Max White's two-out single provided its first and only lead of the game. However, OU stranded three of its eight runners left on base over the final three frames, including two in the ninth that represented the tying and go-ahead runs.
Virginia (51-12) did not outhit OU but its starter, Danny Hultzen finished strong with eight innings and 130 pitches. He struck out nine and improved to 11-1 with two runs allowed off six hits and a walk. Hultzen's outing paved the way for Kevin Arico's 18th save of the season.
