Oklahoma's offense made up for taking the night off Friday night by scoring 6 runs on 8 hits in the rubber match of the Bedlam baseball series but it was Jack Mayfield who stole the show and gave the Sooners the series victory.
Big 12 Baseball Scores - Sunday, May 09
Oklahoma 6, Oklahoma State 0
Texas 6, Kansas State 5
Kansas 10, Missouri 9 10 INN
Nebraska 10, Southeast Missouri State 3
The Sooners plated three runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning and the one in each of the 4th, 5th and 6th innings to eventually build a 6-0. Cameron Seitzer and Ricky Eisenberg had 2 RBI each to spark Oklahoma's six runs. That was actually five more runs than they needed to secure the win and take the series. That's because starting pitcher Jack Mayfield was spectacular.
Mayfield faced 30 batters over nine innings, striking out 7 and only allowing 5 hits, in a complete game shutout of Oklahoma State. He kept the Cowboys at bay by not allowing any hits in five of the nine innings. The Sooners play their final Big 12 Conference series of the season in two weeks when they travel to Kansas.
