Things just got easier
For R.J. Washington to work his way into the DE rotation. According to Stoops, during his pre-spring press conference he was quoted as saying that Justin Chiasson will be moving to DT this year. Evidently, he's put on a considerable amount of weight (assuming weight = muscle) during his redshirt year so they are going to go ahead and move him inside. This has been rumored by many since he arrived on campus so it shouldn't come as a complete surprise. Should be an interesting transition considering all the freshman DTs we have coming in this summer. I think this could be a very positive move for him assuming he still have the explosiveness that I remember him showing during the Under Armor All American game two years ago.
He'll have his work cut out for him working his way into the DT rotation, although the uncertainty regarding Adrian Taylor at this point obviously helps his chances. He has the potential to be a very powerful DT who can get up field and after the QB very similar to how Gerald McCoy played DT for us.
This the first of hopefully many news items that will come out throughout the process of spring practice, so we'll keep trying to get them to you as soon as they are available.
