Holy Jayhawk, Batman! No. 1 Kansas Goes Down
Not only were the Jayhawks a #1 seed, they were the overall top seed in the dance and the #1 team in the country. Ali Farokhmanesh scored 16 points to help lead the 9th seeded Northern Iowa Panthers, of the Missouri Valley Conference, past the Jayhawks 69-67. It's the first time since 2000 that Kansas has lost a second round game in the NCAA tournament and the first time the Missouri Valley has had a team in the Sweet 16 in more than three decades.

both ur factoids were false...
technically Kansas hasn’t fallen in second round since 2000, but they have lost in the first so…..
and MVC had two teams in three years ago……
might wanna getting working on ur stats
Well, Smart One
Why don’t you enlighten us?
Who were the MVC teams that advanced to the Sweet 16 three years ago? Because unless it was Larry Bird and Indiana State then it hasn’t happened. The Syacmores were the last MVC team to reach the Sweet 16 and they did it in 1979 when they wound up winning the whole thing.
Saying a team hasn’t lost in the second round since 2000 when they haven’t isn’t a false statement. Last I checked losing in the first round isn’t the same as losing in the second round.
So, I stand by both of my statements. You might want to be the one who brushes up on his facts before calling someone out in the future. Thanks for posting though.
I hate to do this but...

In 2007, Southern Illinois was the seventh MVC team to reach the Sweet 16 since 1994. Notably, the Missouri Valley has received just 33 total bids from 1994-2010, meaning nearly one of every five Valley NCAA berths since 1994 have resulted in a Sweet 16 trip.

I knew Kevin Harlin was off when he said that too
Because I specifically remember Southern Illinois make it along with Bradley a few years back since I picked them in my brackets.

I originally thought the same thing but
I think Harlin said the first MVC conference champion to advance, intending to mean the conference tournament champion. I don’t know if that’s correct but after looking at the 2006 tournament Bradley and Southern Illinois were both at large selections that made the sweet 16.

wasnt SE MO or SW MO (I dont remember the difference honestly) a MVC team when they made & their coach bolted, then Barry Henson went there fr ORU….? I have drank some & watched alot of football since so I could be mixing up several scenarios. That was brought up by some friends of mine from college yesterday. The directional MO team may not have been conference champs either.
The ESPN recap claims that Northern Iowa is the first MWC Tournament Champion to advance to the Sweet 16 since Indiana State in 1979
I think they're actually right.
Northern Iowa is the first MWC Tournament Champion to advance to the Sweet 16 since Indiana State in 1979. Several other MWC teams have advanced to the Sweet 16, just not the MWC tournament champion.

most sports journalist
analysts and commentators are wrong 70% of the time. As good as weathermen they are. Best advice, don’t believe half of what they say.
KU is a good team but this year they did not have the right attitude. They didn’t play with the fire needed to start games, they did not dominate teams at all. Bill Self is one the great coaches in college b ball right now but his unwillingness to apply full court early cost him this game. The BShSt team of basketball was folding under the pressure last night and if KU had started the full court press earlier in the game they would have won. I don’t expect NI to go much further and can’t wait to see them crying at the end a game next weekend.
I remember MVC b-ball in the 60’s and early 70’s and it was a darned good basketball conference then.
