Jamarkus McFarland Learning From Gerald McCoy's Example
SN: What are you taking away from playing behind McCoy?
JM: Gerald approached every day with a smile. Didn't matter if it was a day off or a workout on Thanksgiving. For me, it was tough, being away from my family for the first time. But every day, he picked me up. He knew he was better than everybody else and how important he was to us. He knew he was supposed to be out in front, supporting the other guys, being a leader. That's what I want to be.

SN: What’s the brief scouting report on Lufkin?
JM: Thirty-seven thousand people, and it’s all football-based. We’ve had some great players out of there, like Dez Bryant and Jorvorskie Lane. Over time, we’ve had some guys get into trouble, too. So all eyes are on me, and what I’m going to do. Am I going to hold up or follow the trend? That was a big part of me coming here. I was looking at Texas and USC, those are big-time cities or the capital city in the state. I thought it would be harder to focus there. But there’s not any temptation here from the community. There’s nothing big downtown. It’s video games and movies. Good, clean fun and lots of work.
none of them girls romancing each other I see.

if any other player on the OU team had said it, I’d still be mocking OU… has nothing to do with a bitterness of losing McFarland to OU.
