2011 Recruit Spotlight: Offensive Lineman Derek Farniok

Derek Farniok is the second offensive lineman we've featured. Recruited by James Patton, Farniok is the third best prospect in the state of South Dakota and is the 77th best offensive tackle prospect in the nation according to Rivals.

Listed, by Rivals, as a three-star recruit, Farniok turned down scholarship offers from Kansas, Minnesota, UCLA and Wisconsin to become a Sooner. He's listed as 6-9/319 pounds with a max bench press of 300 pounds and can squat 405. He also has a 22 inch vertical. He helped lead his team (Washington H.S.) to a 14-0 record in 2010.

At this point I would expect him to provide depth for the offensive line by providing another body to bang around in practice but is most likely heading for a redshirt in 2011.
