Jay Norvell won't be Head Coach at Pitt after all.
It doesn't look like OU's Co-Offensive Coordinator Jay Norvell will be leaving OU for the Pitt job. According to "Sources", several sites are reporting that Pitt will be hiring Miami of Ohio head coach, Mike Haywood as their next head coach. Haywood lead the Redhawks (love the name!) to a bowl game, and is reported to have received a 5 year contract to coach the Panthers.
There was a lot of speculation about Jay Norvell taking this job. It would have been a good one too. Pitt is in an AQ league, and Dave Wanstatt, had a good recruiting class going this year, ranked in the top 25 by Rivals. I figured Norvell was out this week, as several days had past since his name was mentioned, and OU named him Co-OC (again). I doubt if OU would have done that if they hadn't known he was staying.
Personally, this is good for OU. Losing Kevin Wilson already this off season, it's nice to have some continuity in our coaching staff. It would be tough to lose both Offensive Coordinators.

good, the days of Pitt being a real good team run a slim to none chance
not sure why but that’s the way I feel. They haven’t shown anything for a long time.
