Picture this scenario... James Hanna drops the ball on the 2nd & 7 pass, during OU’s final drive of the bedlam game. OU then gets forced into a 3rd & 7. Since OkState is now expecting a pass, they defend it and force us to punt. After we punt, OkState quickly moves into field goal range and Dan Bailey hits the game winning field goal.

What's the moral of this story? Players have to execute! And fans need to stop being so quick to blame the coaches when a play doesn't work.  If the scenario above would have happened, all of the fair weather Kevin Wilson fans would have demanded his head on a platter. Instead… it works, we win, and they are calling him an offensive master-mind. It worked because Landry Jones and James Hanna executed. It also worked because Kevin Wilson out-smarted Bill Young. OkState expected the run, and we caught them sleeping. The is EXACTLY what he tried against Texas A&M, during our final goal line series. Everyone, including Texas A&M, was probably expecting a passing play and Kevin Wilson tried to sneak in a run. It just didn't work, but that doesn't make him an idiot.  How quickly some forget, Kevin Wilson was the offensive coordinator when OU lead the nation in scoring in the 2007 & 2008 seasons (and set the all-time scoring record in 2008). Here is a question for those that like to periodically call for Kevin Wilson's head: Who would replace him...

Dana Holgerson? He's pretty good... but he didn't exactly outcoach Brent Venables, in the biggest game of his career, on Saturday night. 24 of OkState's 41 points came courtsey of Landry's mishaps, OkState's reciever making spectacular catches, and the one punt return.

MarK Mangino? Yeah he was our offensive coordinator when we won the championship game, but we only scored 13 points!!! And I never remember Kansas lighting OU up, on the scoreboard, during his tenor.

Mike Leach? I simply don't think he would be interested in coaching under Stoops.

Let me just make my point clear... KEVIN WILSON IS THE BEST OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR IN THE COUNTRY! Name one better?

Rivals.com has him ranked 4th, but I find flaws with the 3 ahead of him. Auburn has Cam Newton, I already mentioned what I thought about Holgerson, and Wisconsin is just hot right now.
