Mack Brown out, Will Muschamp in?
That's the rumor being floated out there by NewsOK curmudgeon writer Berry Tramel. This utterly ridiculous and clearly another shining example of how pathetic print media has become. To even suggest this calls into question his credibility and while he says he thinks it is "silly" that sure didn't stop him from printing it.
If there is even a hint of truth to this, I just got even more excited about the upcoming games in Dallas. I knew they were dumb down in Austin, but doing something like this would force the powers that be to create a new word just to describe their stupidity.

i wrote this in another post but i'll say it again...
I want texas to go into complete failure/meltdown mode to the point where they do force (fire) mack brown to retire only to find out that muskchump takes the Georgia job and texas is forced into trying to hire Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights only to find out that Coach Taylor isn’t real, culminating in the passing of the torch to Texas A&M as the best college football program in texas. I know its unlikely to happen, but after this past weekend, one can dream…
I like the way you think!
Although as far as I’m concerned, Coach Taylor is very real and kicks some serious a$$! Love that show!!!

Why thank you good sir,
In my own world, Coach Taylor is as real as it gets! Love the show too.

I will say this...
Minka is hot but Mrs Taylor is breathtakingly beautiful. What a woman. Wow.

We can only hope
Although I’m not sure Mr. Jeter would be very happy about it.

This is as absurd as saying fire Stoops and replace him with Venables. The one thing that Mack leaving would do is force changes in the position coaches/coordinators. I would love to see Tim Brewster (if he is fired from Minny) come back in some capacity to recruit and coach the TE’s. Also, any warm body would be an upgrade over McWhorter as the offensive line coach. It is probably time for Greg Davis to go, but I don’t see that happening until Mack retires.
is Davis linked to mack kind of like Venables and Stoops?
because if he’s not then you guys need to look into getting another O coordinator, someone who can meld schemes with key position players talents.

Yea. They were together from ‘85-87 at Tulane and then Davis was with Mack at UNC prior to coming to Texas. They have been together 13 consecutive years. The frustrating thing is we have talent, but it doesn’t seem like they know what to do with it sometimes.
that type of setup,
we have it as well, drives a fan base nuts. CFB is probably the only bidness where that kind of loyalty still runs deep. Every time UT plays a game I have a scary thought in the back of my mind that Davis comes out of the phone booth as Super Coordinator with a total new scheme and it works to perfection. I think the same thing about Venables too.
Very true. That is why I think it will take Mack leaving before we see a change at the OC position. I believe that we could see McWhorter gone at the end of the year, but that has been building for several years now. I would love to see what a real offensive line coach can do with the guys we have coming in next year. As far as Davis goes, his numbers are actually very good and most schools would love to have this type of success, but at schools like Texas and OU the natives get restless really quickly.
Why do y'all hate Venables? Is it the hair gel?
Sports is man's joke on God, You see, God says to man, 'I've created a universe where it seems like everything matters, where you'll have to grapple with life and death and in the end you'll die anyway, and it won't really matter.' So man says to God, 'Oh, yeah? Within your universe we're going to create a sub-universe called sports, one that absolutely doesn't matter, and we'll follow everything that happens in it as if it were life and death.'" - Sam Kellerman
he has never heard of the anyting other than
stay 5,7, oh heck maybe 10 yds off the line of scrimmage for DB’s. Ask him a simple question,
Hey have you ever heard of man coverage?
Venables: Huh? I really think that men should not be covering men that closely.
