So long Dom Franks
According to multiple reports, he has declared himself eligible for the NFL draft. Personally, I think he could stand to benefit quite a bit from another year at OU but I seriously doubt he cares what I think. Not sure of the logic in being projected as a 2-3 rounder other than it might be as simple as seeing Bradford and Gresham on our sideline all year. At the same time it's hard to question these kids who have an opportunity to make a lot of money and choosing not to risk the threat of injury by coming back for another year. Nothing but the best of luck to a great local kid who had a solid career at OU! Good luck Dom!
As a side note, this could be the first domino to fall regarding OU early entrants. I think Murray is the most likely to follow Franks, but I don't think anyone else is leaving. However, there is a slight chance that this triggers Beal or Travis Lewis to leave as well (I really, really, really hope that doesn't happen)

I'm not upset at him for leaving
I just wish these guys would make up their minds before saying stuff like this, http://www.crimsonandcreammachine.com/2009/12/10/1194587/franks-coming-back-others-possibly

Check out that last part where he essentially admits that he lied when he said that just to avoid having to deal with answering the question over and over again. Not sure of the logic in that, I mean if you were pretty much up front that you were waiting on your grade from the committee so I’m not sure why he had to lie about definitely coming back. But like I said, no hard feelings on my part. Just seems very similar to the Reggie Smith situation of a couple years back and he hasn’t exactly blown up in the NFL or anything.
While Dom is one of my family’s favorite players, I am not certain that he played anywhere near his potential this year. I do know his friendship to Bradford goes back to like jr high. Maybe he feels like he can only elevate himself to a certain point, like he would be a second rounder regardless….who knows…
Agreed
I feel about Franks the same way I felt about Reggie Smith. It seemed like both were perceived to be better players than they were. I always felt like Jackson was the better all around corner and I don’t think Franks will have a great NFL career. If Lewis and Beal come back then I will feel pretty good about the D next year.

Exactually
another Reggie Smith…..stupid decision. He isn’t Bradford or Gresham that could have competed high at the next level if leaving early.
they come and they go
I wish there were rules in place that did not allow college juniors to go pro, but there isn’t. Good Luck Mr. Franks. It has been a pleasure watching you play at OU.
