Condolences from the Burnt Orange Side of Red River
Somethings are bigger than rivalries and one of those is the respect that those clad in Burnt Orange have for Sam Bradford. In addition to being a great college QB, he really seems like a great "down to earth" young man. While still pulling for a resounding victory in the Red River Shootout - I am rooting just as hard (or at least almost as hard)for a full recovery, a huge signing bonus, and a great NFL career for Sam.

Thank You
If Colt went down similar to Sam, I can say that I wouldn’t revel in that fact and I’m pretty sure most OU fans wouldn’t either. If I saw any OU fans do that I would be the first to shoot them down.
Knowing of UT’s potential this year and seeing that be put in jeopardy with a Colt injury would, I’m sure, be devastating for a UT fan.

We felt it before
We had the inside track to go back to the national title game in 2006, and Colt went down on the first drive against K-State. The train fell off the tracks after that.

Definitely would not wish that on anyone.
Its easy (and necessary) to root for an OU loss. It is inhuman to root for actual physical harm to befall anyone. It is what separates us from beasts….and aggies.

Although
Don’t take my take my disagreement as bad. It’s good to have classy Longhorn fans around. We all know that there are bad fans on all boards. I just don’t see the Longhorns playing for NC that year with the way all things worked out.

Actually I don't agree with this statement.
You had already lost to undefeated Ohio State earlier in the year and I don’t think that a one loss Texas team (if Texas wins the 2 they in conference they lost that year) goes in over a one loss Florida team. A rematch of teams that already played would not keep a one loss SEC champion out of the game. However I would agree that if Colt did not go down they could have won the Big 12 and gone to the Fiesta Bow. They just had to win one of the 2 they lost as they had the tiebreaker over OU.

I second this.
Please ignore any “Longhorn fans” who take pleasure in another person’s injury. Those of us that have any real connection to the sport have nothing but good feelings towards Sam and Jermaine as individuals. Like when Colt was hurt in 2006, there will always be a group of jackasses within any fan base that revel in injuries, but they do not represent the overwhelming majority of the University of Texas’s fans and alumni when they do so. We have quashed the very isolated instances of this ass-hattery over at BON immediately.
Besides, the last thing we want is for you to have any excuses when we whip your butts in Dallas this year. Here’s hoping Sam gets better soon (and that he isn’t forced to choose between tearing up his arm to help his team and sitting out for his own good), and that Jermaine’s draft status is unaffected.

Amen
I wanted to express my respect for Sam and Jermaine, but HB beat me to the punch, and I doubt I could say it better.
Best of luck to Sam and Jermaine in their respective recoveries.

Your gracious post is very refreshing.....
…. and I’m proud to call you a fellow Texan.
Although I was born, raised, and still live in Texas, I’ve been a Sooner Football fan all my life. I also admire the Longhorns and want them to win every game they play, EXCEPT the game they play in Dallas the 2nd Saturday every October.
But over the years I have grown weary of dealing with the many rabid Texas Longhorn fans who always seem to have a vindictive hatred for the Sooners and are rooting against Oklahoma no matter who they’re playing. At times it seems to be pure jealousy or it could be resentment from knowing some of the best Sooner players were Texas boys.
