Brennan Clay Commits To Sooners

Brennan Clay (24) gives Oklahoma a multi-purpose threat in the 2010 recruiting class.

Cale Gundy continues his dominance in recruiting the nation’s top notch running backs! The latest prep player to commit to play for the Sooners is Brennan Clay from San Diego, California. Clay, an all-purpose back from Scripps Ranch High School, is ranked as the number two all-purpose running back, in the 2010 recruiting class and the 41st overall player by Rivals.

"I kind of misled him (Coach Gundy) earlier in the week," Clay said. "I wanted to make it a full on surprise but I told him I was narrowing decisions down. I think he thought it was going to be a top three, top five kind of deal.

"When I told him I was committing I think he said four or five times how excited he was. I'm pretty sure he has a great feeling going through his spine still."

Last season, as a junior, Clay rushed for 1,453 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also caught 70 passes for 1,055 yards and 6 touchdowns. He drew scholarship offers from 13 other division one schools including Arizona State, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon and Oregon State. Clay is Oklahoma’s 11th commitment for the 2010 recruiting class.
