Roddrick Muckelroy will provide senior leadership and a ton of experience to the Texas linebacking corps. In 2008 he helped lead the Longhorns to the Big 12’s best scoring defense allowing just 18.8 points per game.

Leading the team in tackles with 112 (including 4 tackles for loss) to go along with a fumble return for a score, Muckelroy averaged 8.6 tackles per game ranking him 50th nationally. His 71 solo tackles ranked him 17th in the nation. Against Oklahoma he recorded a career high 16 tackles to go along with a pass breakup and a forced fumble.

With the departures of Brian Orakpo on the defensive line and fellow linebacker Rashad Bobino not only will Muckelroy be looked upon to provide defensive leadership on the field, he’ll most likely see an increase in productivity as well.
