Big 12 Baseball Championship Update: Texas Finally Benefits From A Three Way Tie

I was wrong and I’m not too proud to admit it. I incorrectly pronounced the Texas Longhorns dead after the early game this morning which most certainly isn’t the case. The Longhorns just defeated Kansas State 4-2 in Saturday’s second game forcing a three-way tie between Baylor, Kansas State and Baylor. According to the Big 12 tiebreaker rule, when three teams are tied and they’ve all defeated each other the way these three teams have then the highest seeded team advances to the tournament championship. Texas was the top seed in the tournament so they will advance to tomorrow’s championship game. Something tells me that we won’t hear any complaining out of Austin about the outcome of this scenario.
