Stay connected for news and updates

Number 16 TCU didn’t go down easy to Oklahoma on Tuesday night in Norman but they did go down. Garrett Richards improved his season record to 5-1 by striking out a career high 8 batters. He pitched 5 innings allowing three runs on five hits.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the second the Sooners responded with four consecutive base hits that scored a run. TCU’s starting pitcher wouldn’t make it through the inning and the Sooners wouldn’t relinquish their lead.

Oklahoma stretched the lead to 7-2 with a three-run fourth inning. TCU would counter to keep it close by scoring a single run in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings. Oklahoma’s Ryan Duke pitched the ninth inning picking up his 8th save of the season.

Oklahoma travels to Austin this weekend to take on the Number 9 Texas Longhorns. The Sooners lead Texas by 1.5 games in the Big 12 standings.
