Oklahoma's baseball team posted 11 runs in the first three innings and then cruised to a 12-6 victory over the Central Arkansas Bears. Garrett Richards was credited with the win after going 5 innings, only allowing 3 runs off 7 hits.
The Sooners plated 5 runs in the first thanks in part to Garrett Buechele's three run shot. Central Arkansas starter Reece Cross would last through the second inning as he would continue to get rocked giving up 7 runs in 1.1 innings. Matt Harughty went yard in the second helping the Sooners open the lead to 8-3, then in the third Kaleb Herren knocked in two runs on a triple before being sent home on a Casey Johnson hit. OU led 11-3 at the end of three and had already scored more than enough runs to win.
Oklahoma improved to 21-5 on the season and currently sits in the Big 12's second place spot behind Kansas. It's also worth noting that Stephen Porlier saw action against Central Arkansas in the 7th inning and struck out two batters. The faster he is able to return to 100% the better OU's chances are for making a strong push towards a conference championship. Nebraska travels to Norman this weekend for a three game series with the Sooners.
